GOSPEL READING: LUKE 6: 36-38

Being compassionate is the requirement of the disciples of Jesus. This is the quality of the Father. In fact it is said that compassion is a motherly quality. This motherly quality allows the child to grow, welcomes life, respects life and constantly and continuously supports the life of the child. This motherly quality does everything that is positively possible for the well being of the child. Our heavenly Father is the Mother.

The disciples are also asked not to judge others rather pardon everyone. When anyone sits on the judgement seat, then he is there to punish the wrong doer. Motherly Father (compassionate person) does not punish rather forgives always. Anyone who condemns another person sits on the judgement seat which is again not the action of the one who is compassionate. A motherly father (a compassionate person) is an eternal giver.

இரக்கமுள்ளவராய் இருப்பது இறைவனின் குணம். இறைவனின் இரக்கத்தை பிறரிடம் வெளிப்படுத்துவது சீடர்களுக்கு இயேசு விடுக்கும் சவால். தீர்ப்பளிப்பதும் கண்டனம் செய்வதும் இரக்கம் காட்டுபவர்கள் செய்கின்ற செயல்கள் அல்ல. தீர்ப்பளிப்பவன் கண்டனம் செய்பவன் தன்னையே உயர்த்திக் கொள்கிறான். இரக்கம் காட்டுபவன் தன்னை பிறரோடு சமநிலை படுத்துகிறான் ஒன்றுபடுகிறான்.

GOSPEL READING: MARK 9:2-10

Transfiguration reveals the role and function of Jesus and with what category of people he relates. Jesus has already asked the disciples about their opinion about himself. He has asked them about what they thought about him. Here he gives his mind about who he is or what he would do. And all these revelations will have their meaning and sense only after his resurrection. Understanding of Jesus is not given to the disciples immediately Understanding of Jesus and accepting of Jesus is a process.

On the mountain there appeared to them Elijah and Moses. These two were the founders and builders of the Israelite religion and belief in one God. Moses was the first one to propose to the people Yahweh, the one true God. When the people stayed away from this belief Elijah confirmed this same faith in Yahweh at Mount Carmel. Now Jesus has come to lead the people back to this very same faith. And this will be done at resurrection.

சீடர்கள் இயேசுவை யார் என்று வெளிப்படுத்தினார்கள் (மெசியா). இயேசு இங்கே தன்னைப்பற்றி யார் என்று வெளிப்படுத்துகிறார். இறப்புக்குபின் உயிர்ப்பு உண்டு என்பதை சொல்லாமல் சொல்லுகிறார். தான் உயிர்த்த பிறகுதான் இதைப்பற்றி பேசவேண்டும் என்று சொல்லுகிறார். அதோடு தனது பணியும் உண்மை கடவுள் ஒருவரே என்பதை மோசே எலியாவோடு உறவாடுதல் வழியாக வெளிப்படுத்துகிறார். இயேசுவின் உயிர்ப்பில்தான் உண்மை கடவுள் ஒருவர் என்பது வெளிப்படுத்தப்படுகிறது.
