GOSPEL READING: JOHN 16:16-20
Jesus’ going away from his disciples and this world will bring sadness and worry among the disciples. The disciples have become so dependent on Jesus and so much identified themselves with Jesus that they are not able to see him go. Their whole life and activities are so much cantered around Jesus that they are not able to see themselves without him.
Departure of Jesus leaves them with anxiety and worry and sadness. They question among themselves about his going and all about his saying. Jesus understands their worry. His reply to their unexpressed question is that he is going to the Father and his going is only for a short while and he is sure to come back to them.
