05.04.2014 REVELATION

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 7: 40-53

Each one had a different experience of Jesus. As their experience was so also was their interpretation of him. Not only their interpretation of him but also their identification of him depended on their experience. Some experienced him as a prophet, others as Messiah but not according to the scriptures etc.

Division among them was probably like that of the story of the tower of Babel. They were trying to know God (here they were trying to know Jesus). In Genesis God confused them with their language and here with their understanding. Anything regarding God should be of revelation.

04.04.2014 KNOWLEDGE OF GOD

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 7:1-2,10,25-30

To know God is the goal of every human being. (For it is love that I desire, not sacrifice, and knowledge of God rather than holocausts. – Hosea 6:6). Knowledge of God is the experience of God. (I am the LORD, your God, since the land of Egypt; You know no God besides me, and there is no savior but me Hosea 13:4).

Jesus knows God and this knowledge is seen in his belonging to him; in finding God as the source of his life. This knowledge of God is further assured in the commission of God. God has given Jesus a mission. To acknowledge that God is the source and God has a mission is the knowledge which Jesus proposes in this passage.
