GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 5:1-12

He began to teach them.

This is the first time that Jesus is starting his teaching ministry in Matthew’s gospel. Till now it was his private life at home and then he was baptized, then again he was calling his disciples and doing healing ministry. Here now he has gathered enough followers and listeners and he begins his teaching.

It is not a theoretical teaching of some rules and rubrics rather it is about the people. It reflects the target group he is addressing and the target groups for whom he is going to work. The people are identified. These are the people of God: those who are poor in spirit, those who mourn, the meek, the merciful etc.

அவர் திருவாய் மலர்ந்து கற்பித்தவை.

மத்தேயு நற்செய்தியில் இயேசு முதல்முறையாக போதிக்கிறார். இதுவரை பெற்றோரோடு இருந்தவர், திருமுழுக்குப் பெற்றபின்,சீடர்களை அழைக்கிறார், புதுமைகள் செய்கிறார், மக்கள் கூட்டம் அவரை பின்தொடர்கிறது. அவர் திருவாய் மலர்ந்து கற்பித்தவை அவர் யாருக்காக பணிசெய்யப்போகிறாரோ அவர்களைப்பற்றியதாக இருக்கும் எனவும் கருதலாம்.

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 13:22-30

He passed through towns and villages, teaching as he went and making his way to Jerusalem.

Jesus was journeying towards Jerusalem. Jerusalem was his arrival point. He could have gone straight on without stopping anywhere and without delay as the crow flies. But he passed through towns and villages. He met people; he talked to them; he taught them and this was his mission. He reached the goal working his mission out.

His mission was to save people and save all. But the question was rightly posed on to him saying will only few be saved. Jesus’ tough preaching only showed that though his mission was to save all yet the freedom was left to the individual to accept it or not. They had to strive to enter though.

இயேசு நகர்கள்> ஊர்கள் தோறும் கற்பித்துக்கொண்டே எருசலேம் நோக்கிப் பயணம் செய்தார்.

எருசலேம் நோக்கிய பயணம்தான் இயேசுவின் பயணம். அவர் வேறுவழியாக சென்றிருக்கலாம் ஆனால் நகர்கள்> ஊர்கள் தோறும் கற்பித்துக்கொண்டே சென்றார். பயணம் தெளிவாக இருந்தாலும் பணியை (மீட்பு பணியை) அவர் மறக்கவில்லை. எல்லாரையும் மீட்க வந்தார். ஆனால் மீட்புக்கான முயற்சி தனிநபர் கையில் இருக்கிறது (இடுக்கமான வாயில் வழியாக நுழைய வருந்தி முயலுங்கள்.)
