GOSPEL READING: MARK 11:11-26

Text:
Then he taught them saying, “Is it not written: ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples’? But you have made it a den of thieves.”…
Therefore I tell you, all that you ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it and it shall be yours. When you stand to pray, forgive anyone against whom you have a grievance, so that your heavenly Father may in turn forgive you your transgressions.”

Reflection:
The Temple in Jerusalem was the only place where God dwelt on earth. They had many places of prayers (synagogue). There was only one Temple and God was worshipped there because he was present there (there was the throne of God in the temple to represent his presence and there was the tabernacle which contained things which reminded them of God’s action among them in history).

This Temple was the social centre, political centre, cultural centre and religious centre. As a religious centre this was the meeting place of God and man. This was the meeting place of God and man and this was the place of communication between God and man. Man communed with God through worship that is through sacrifice and prayer.

‘~என் இல்லம் மக்களினங்கள் அனைத்திற்கும் உரிய இறைவேண்டலின் வீடு என அழைக்கப்படும்| என்று மறை நூலில் எழுதியுள்ளது|| என்று அவர்களுக்குக் கற்பித்தார் ‘ஆனால் நீங்கள் இதைக் கள்வர் குகையாக்கிவிட்டீர்கள் என்றார்…

நீங்கள் இறைவனிடம் வேண்டும்போது எவற்றையெல்லாம் கேட்பீர்களோ அவற்றைப் பெற்று விட்டீர்கள் என நம்புங்கள் நீங்கள் கேட்டபடியே நடக்கும். நீங்கள் வேண்டுதல் செய்ய நிற்கும்போது யார் மேலாவது நீங்கள் மனத்தாங்கல் கொண்டிருந்தால், மன்னித்து விடுங்கள். அப்போது உங்கள் விண்ணகத் தந்தையும் உங்கள் குற்றங்களை மன்னிப்பார்” என்று கூறினார்.

சிந்தனை:

எருசலேம் கோயில் மக்களுக்கு இறைபிரசன்னத்தின் அடையாளமாக இருந்தது. கோயிலில்தான் மக்கள் இறைவனை கண்டார்கள், இறைவனோடு உறவாடினார்கள், இறைவனோடு தொடர்பு கொண்டார்கள். அதனால்தான் அது இறைவேண்டலின் வீடு என்று அழைக்கப்பட்டது. இன்று அது ஒரு சமுதாய கூடமாக, கலாச்சார கூடமாக, ஒரு வியாபார கூடமாக செயல்பட்டது. இயேசு இந்த மனநிலையை, இந்த செயல்முறையை சாடுகிறார்.

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 1:39-56

Elizabeth’s exclamation; ‘how is that the mother of my Lord should come to me?’ is a clear expression of any ordinary person. A person of great honour normally does not come to simple ordinary situation. Not only that, but Mary has made a long journey to arrive at that. Simple ordinary people will make a long journey to reach the places of people of honour.

Mary could do this because she has kept God in front. Mary had given the right priority to God and accepted herself to be a creature. This awareness only will make a person great in the sight of God. Only such a person of faith will see the working of God in history as Mary sang the song of God’s deeds in history. Mary has done this to the greatest degree: giving the right place to God in her life and in the life of the society.

மரியா கடவுளுக்கு சரியான இடத்தை அளித்து அவர் புகழ் பாடுகிறார். தனக்கு என்ன பதவி வந்தாலும் என்ன பகழ் வந்தாலும் அவைகளினால் மயங்கிப்போகவில்லை. கடவுள் முன்னிலையில் தான் படைக்கப்பட்டவள் என்பதை உணர்ந்து கடவுளை முன்வைத்து கடவுளை உலக நிகழ்வுகளில் கண்டு கடவுளை பாடுதலே சரியான மனநிலை: அதுதான் மரியாளின் மனநிலை.
