GOSPEL READING: LUKE 2: 41-51
and his mother kept all these things in her heart

Mary, as a mother brought the child up in the religious beliefs and practices. She communicated the ancestral religion without any failure. Jesus also grew in the context of the family and the society practicing religion. Family or the society or the religion did not have any conflict for him in his life. Everyone else was practicing religion in the family context (they come for feast but after the celebration they go back to their families and society).
But the boy Jesus practiced the religion and he wanted to live the rest of his life in the religious context and not in the family context (the boy remained behind in Jerusalem – after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions, and all who heard him were astounded at his understanding and his answers). When questioned, his answer was: “Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?”. Only the mother could understand this stand of Jesus and kept these things in her heart.

இயேசுவும் அவருடைய தாயும் தந்தையும் வழக்கம்போல் எருசலேமுக்கு சென்று பாஸ்கா விழா கொண்டாடிவிட்டு வீடு திரும்பிக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள். மத சூழலைவிட்டு மீண்டும் குடும்பச்சூழலுக்கு திரும்பிக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள். இயேசு மட்டும் மதச்சூழலிலேயே தங்கிவிடுகிறார் (அங்கே அவர் போதகர்கள் நடுவில் அமர்ந்து அவர்கள் சொல்வதைக் கேட்டுக் கொண்டும் அவர்களிடம் கேள்விகளை எழுப்பிக் கொண்டுமிருந்தார்). அவருடைய தாய் இந்நிகழ்ச்சிகளையெல்லாம் தமது உள்ளத்தில் பதித்து வைத்திருந்தார்.
