*Jesus honours his Attendants*
The mother and family of Jesus not yet comprehend the scope of Jesus’ mission, as demonstrated by their “standing outside” the house in contrast to those “sitting around him”. The monotonous reiteration of the two kindred “mother and brothers” does appear five times, while the final sequence is inverted with “brothers, sisters and mother”. Jesus’ climactic pronouncement here indicates the rerouting relationship with God and his universalization of the Christian brotherhood, which precedes kinship. In his response Jesus suggests that they should not just insist “standing outside” but come in and listen to him. At the same time Jesus’ commendation encouraged those who sat around him, for they felt a closer bond with Jesus than his own family members. They must have felt excited for being honoured as model of “doers of the will of God” before his family members.
இயேசுவின் தாயும் குடும்பத்தினரும் இயேசுவின் பணியை இன்னும் புரிந்து கொள்ளவில்லை, அதனால் தான் அவர்கள் வீட்டின் வெளியே நின்று கொண்டுள்ளனர், மாறாக மற்றவர்கள் அவரைச் சுற்றி உட்கார்ந்திருக்கிறார்கள். “தாயும் சகோதரர்களும்” என்ற சொற்றொடர் ஐந்து முறை வந்தாலும் கடைசி முறையாக “சகோதரர்களும், சகோதரிகளும், தாயும்” என்று தலைகீழாக குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது. இயேசுவின் உச்சக்கட்ட அறிவிப்பு கடவுளுடனான உறவை மையப்படுத்தியும், உலகளாவிய கிறிஸ்தவ சகோதரத்துவத்தையும் குறிப்பதாக அமைந்துள்ளது. இயேசு தம்மிடம் கேள்வி கேட்டவர்களுக்கு “வெளியில் நின்று” கொண்டிருப்பதைவிட உள்ளே வந்து செவிசாய்க்க வேண்டும் என்று வலியுறுத்துகிறார். அதே நேரத்தில் இயேசு தம்மை சூழ்ந்து இருந்தவர்களைப் பாராட்டியதாக உணர்ந்தார்கள். ஏனெனில், தம் சொந்தக் குடும்ப உறுப்பினர்களைவிட அவரைச் சூழ்ந்திருந்தவர்களுடன் நெருக்கமான உறவை பெற்றதாக உணர்ந்தார்கள். அவருடைய குடும்பத்தினர் முன்பாக “கடவுளின் திட்டப்படி செய்பவர்கள்” என்று உயர்வாக மதிக்கப்பட்டதாக அவர்கள் உற்சாகமாக உணர்ந்திருக்க வேண்டும்.
