15th Week in Ord. Time, Thursday – 18th July 2019 — Gospel: Mt 11,28-30
Called to embrace His yoke
Jesus offers one of the most appealing and memorable invitations of the gospel. He gives an open call to all who are weary and carrying heavy burdens and encourages them to come and experience the rest he offers them. For through his life, He himself has set an example of love, gentleness, compassion, and mercy. The invitation of Jesus is twofold. First, he says, “Come to me.” Being with Jesus and sharing his life is the way to fulfillment. Next, he says, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me.” When an animal is yoked, it is ready for work. Following the teachings of Jesus and taking up the cross are certainly not effortless. Yet, Jesus says paradoxically, “My yoke is easy and my burden is light.” The yoke which He invites us to embrace is his way of grace and freedom from the power of sin. Though the Christian life is a challenge, the way of Jesus gets at the heart of God’s will for us. Because Jesus is gentle and humble, learning from him and following him is not burdensome. His way leads to rest, to his Father, to the fullness of life.
நற்செய்தியின் மிகவும் ஈர்க்கக்கூடிய மற்றும் மறக்கமுடியாத அழைப்புகளில் ஒன்றை இயேசு வழங்குகின்றார். தளர்வுற்று அதிக சுமைகளைச் சுமக்கும் அனைவருக்கும் அவர் திறந்த அழைப்பினை விடுக்கின்றார். அதாவது அவரிடம் வந்து அவர் தரும் இளைப்பாற்றியை அனுபவிக்க அவர்களை ஊக்குவிக்கின்றார். இவ்வாறு அன்பு, கனிவு, இரக்கம், மற்றும் கருணையின் முன்மாதிரியாக அவர் தனது வாழ்க்கை மூலம் வாழ்ந்து காட்டியுள்ளார். இயேசுவின் அழைப்பில் இரண்டு கூறுகள் உள்ளன. முதலாவதாக, “என்னிடம் வாருங்கள்” என்று அவர் கூறுகின்றார். இயேசுவோடு இருப்பதும் அவருடைய வாழ்க்கையைப் பகிர்ந்து கொள்வதும் நம் வாழ்வை நிறைவாக்கும் வழியாகும். அடுத்து “என் நுகத்தை உங்கள்மேல் ஏற்றுக் கொண்டு என்னிடம் கற்றுக் கொள்ளுங்கள்” என்று கூறுகின்றார். ஒரு விலங்கின் மீது நுகத்தடியை ஏற்றும் போது, அது வேலைக்குத் தயாராக உள்ளது என்று அர்த்தம். இயேசுவின் போதனைகளைப் பின்பற்றுவதும் சிலுவையை ஏற்றுக் கொள்வதும் நிச்சயமாக எளிதானது அல்ல. ஆனாலும், “என் நுகம் எளிதானது, என் சுமை இலகுவானது” என்ற முரண்பாட்டை இயேசு முன்வைக்கிறார். அவர் தரும் நுகத்தை தழுவிக் கொள்வது என்பது பாவத்தின் பிடியிலிருந்து விடுபட துணை நிற்கும் இறையருளும் சுதந்திரமுமாகும். கிறிஸ்தவ வாழ்க்கை ஒரு சவாலாக இருப்பினும், இயேசுவின் வழியில் இறைவிருப்பத்தினை நாம் மையமாக பெறுகிறோம். இயேசு கனிவானவர் மற்றும் பணிவானவர் என்பதால் அவரிடமிருந்து கற்றுக் கொள்வதும் அவரைப் பின்பற்றுவதும் நமக்கு சுமையாக இராது. அவருடைய வழி இளைப்பாறுதலுக்கும், இறைத்தந்தையோடு இணைக்கவும், நிலைவாழ்வுக்கும் அழைத்துச் செல்கிறது.
