Prayer transfigures
Jesus was preparing his disciples at different levels and the event of the transfiguration was one such. He always had in mind the future continuity and sustainability of his mission.It is said that he was specially preparing them to carry out his work and for this he was broadening their vision about himself and about his mission. In special moments, he always chose only the three from the twelve, namely, Peter, John and James as his close associates. The heavenly revelation of Jesus’ divine Sonship takes place while Jesus is in prayer. This was the only time that others were present while he was praying. In prayer, his nature assumes its highest expression, the shadow of his mortality disappear and the fashion of his countenance becomes bright. The visit of the two well-known historic prophets, Moses and Elijah, in a vision did manifest Jesus’ future and his mission. Luke demonstrates that deepening faith in Jesus is a result of a prayerful contemplation of his life. Prayer is transfiguring, transforming duty, which makes the face to shine. Thus prayer becomes the experiential setting for the quest and discovery of Jesus and his mission.
இயேசு தம்முடைய சீடர்களை வெவ்வேறு நிலைகளில் தயார் செய்து கொண்டிருந்தார். உருமாற்ற நிகழ்வும் அதன் அடிப்படையில் தான் நிகழ்ந்தன. தனது பணியின் எதிர்கால தொடர்ச்சி மற்றும் நிலைத்திருத்தலை எப்போதும் மனிதல் வைத்திருந்தார். தனது பணியைச் செய்வதற்கு தன்னுடைய சீடர்களை சிறப்பாகத் தயார்படுத்திக் கொண்டிருந்தார். இதற்காக அவர் தன்னைப் பற்றியும் தனது பணி குறித்தும் அவர்களின் பார்வையை விரிவுபடுத்திக் கொண்டிருந்தார் என்று கூறப்படுகிறது. சிறப்பான தருணங்களில், அவர் எப்போதும் பன்னிரண்டு பேரில் மூவரை மட்டும் அதாவது, பேதுரு, யோவான் மற்றும் யாக்கோபு ஆகியோரை தனது நெருங்கிய கூட்டாளிகளாக தேர்ந்து கொண்டார். இயேசு செபத்தில் இருக்கும் போது அவரின் தெய்வீக மகத்துவத்தின் விண்ணக வெளிப்பாடு நடந்தேறியது. அவர் செபிக்கும்போது மற்றவர்கள் உடனிருந்த ஒரே நேரம் இது மட்டும் தான். செபத்தில், அவரது இயல்பு மிக உயர்ந்த வெளிப்பாட்டை எட்டியது, அதாவது மரணத்தின் நிழல் மறைந்து அவரது முகத்தின் தோற்றம் ஒளிர்ந்தது. நன்கு அறியப்பட்ட வரலாற்று இறைவாக்கினர்களான, மோசே மற்றும் எலியா ஆகியோரின் வருகை, இயேசுவின் எதிர்காலத்தையும் அவரது பணியையும் வெளிப்படுத்தியது. இயேசுவின் மீது நம்பிக்கையை ஆழப்படுத்துவது அவருடைய வாழ்க்கையை ஆழமாக சிந்தித்ததின் விளைவாகும் என்று நற்செய்தியாளர் லூக்கா அதற்கு செயல் விளக்கமளிக்கிறார். செபம் என்பது உட்புற மாற்றத்தையும் வெளிப்புற கடமையாக முகத்தை பிரகாசிக்கவும் வைக்கிறது. இவ்வாறு செபம் இயேசுவைப் பற்றி அறிந்து கொள்ளவும் அவரைக் கண்டுணரவும் தேவையான அனுபமாக மாறுகிறது.
