GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 7:7-12
Jesus is making an open-ended promise with regard to God the Father. This is one of the most generous promises that we find in the whole of the Bible. We have to ask for the right sort of things from God (James 4:3). ‘Right things’ include the things that we need day by day. He is a father. It is up to him to decide to give. At the end of it all prayer remains a mystery. We will fully understand this when we see God face to face. This is one of the most basic Christian insights.
Treat God as a father that is the basic message of the Sermon on the Mount. Let him know how things are with you. Ask, search, and knock and see what happens. Expect some surprises but God will never let you down. Imitating this God in our situation is the meaning of the golden rule. Do to others what you want others to do you. This is the whole law and the prophets in one sentence.

தந்தையாம் கடவுளைப்பற்றிய அரும்பெரும் உண்மையை முன்வைக்கிறார். விவிலியம் முழுவதிலும் கூறப்படுகின்ற வாக்குறுதிகளில் மிகச்சிறந்தது இது எனக்கூறலாம். கடவுளிடம் சரியானவற்றைக் கேட்கவேண்டும் (யாக் 4:3). சரியானவைகளில் அன்றாடதேவைகளும் அடங்கும். ஏதை கொடுப்பது என்பது இறைவனின் முடிவு. எனவேதான் செபம் ஒரு மறைபொருள் என்றழைக்கப்படுகிறது. இதன் உண்மைப் பொருளை மறுஉலகில்தான் புரிந்துகொள்வோம். இது நமது விசுவாச கூற்றுகளில் ஒன்றாகும். இறைவனை தந்தையாக ஏற்று வாழவேண்டும் என்று மலைபொழிவு நமக்கு முன்வைக்கிறது.
