Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 16:29-33

Jesus came into this world to rebuild the relationship with the Father. He wanted the people to reconcile with God and united with him. He started to form a small community of disciples and he taught them everything about the Father and revealed his own relationship with the Father as model of relationship. Sad story is that His disciples left him alone and ran away.

His firm conviction that the Father was with him sustained him at the moment of loneliness and neglect. The disciples left him one by one and as a group leaving him alone. His faith in the Father and the presence of the Father carried him through even at the moment of death on the cross. This is also a model for the followers that God the Father will always be with his people.

இயேசுவின் அடித்தள நம்பிக்கைகளில் ஒன்று கடவுளின் உடனிருப்பு. இயேசு இவ்வுலகிற்கு வந்தது இறைபிரசன்னத்தை வெளிப்படுத்த. ஆதை அவரே வாழ்ந்து காட்டுகிறார். உலகு முழுவதுமே ஒருவரை தனிமைப்படுத்தினாலும் தந்தையாகிய கடவுள் தன்னோடு இருக்கிறார் என்ற நம்பிக்கை அவசியம்.

GOSPEL READING: Mt 28:16-20

The disciples went back to Galilee. As the disciples started their journey from Galilee to Jerusalem so now they start their journey again (after resurrection) from Galilee. This is to show that one has to start one’s journey from his own place of origin. He has to start from his place of origin and journey towards Jerusalem. Everyone has got his own Galilee and everyone has to begin his journey from there.

They met Jesus on a mountain. Mountain is the place where God dwells. Mountain is the place of revelation (Sinai, Tabor, Zion etc). After resurrection Jesus revealed himself to the disciples on a mountain. The disciples also worshiped him. Jesus was accepted as God and worshiped on a mountain.

Jesus affirms his Godhead (all power in heaven and on earth has been given to me); commissions them (go therefore and make disciples) to baptize them and teach them; and assures them of his continual presence till the end of days. He takes the role of god among his people. After resurrection Jesus takes the role of God and fulfils it among his disciples.

சீடர்கள் மீண்டும் தங்களது பணியை கலிலேயாவிலிருந்து துவங்குகிறார்கள். உயிர்ப்புக்கு பிறகு இயேசு மலைமீது காட்சி தருகிறார். இறைவன் மலையில் தான் தன்னை வெளிப்படுத்துவார் என்பது அவகளது நம்பிக்கை (சீனாய். தாபோர். சீயோன்). இயேசு தனது இறைதன்மையை வெளிப்படுத்தி அவர்களைப் பணிக்கிறார்.
