Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 2:13-22

Jesus chose the Passover time to cleanse the temple. The temple would be filled with people and also would be filled with things for sale. He did not want the message to reach just a handful rather he wanted everyone to see and witness. He wanted the message to reach all and he wanted the message to reach in a forceful way. It was a prophetic sign.

Earthly buildings and constructions have their end however holy their function might be. Temple was a place where God dwelt. It was the only abode of God on earth. Being an earthly construction, even that building would have its earthly, historical time for destruction. Physical body has it spiritual components and hence it is spiritual (it will have its time to be raised from death). The true place of worship will always be His body.

கோவில் இறைவனின் உறைவிடம். பாஸ்கா விழாவின்போது மக்கள்கூட்டமும் இருக்கும்@ விற்பனைக்கான பொருள்களும் கோவிலில் நிறம்பி இருக்கும். இயேசுவின் போதனை பலரையும் சென்றடைய வேண்டும் என்பதற்காகவே பாஸ்கா விழாவின்போது பேசுகிறார். ஆன்மீகம் சார்ந்த கட்டடமே என்றும் அழியாதது. உயிர் உள்ள (உயிர்ப்பை தன்னுள் கொண்ட@ அழியாத) உடலே கோவில்.

GOSPEL READING: MARK 12:38-44

In this passage Jesus condemns the persons of religious practices and the rich. The people of religious practices (Pharisees) do a lot of religious activities. They distinguish themselves in the way they dress and the way they go about among other people. They also say lengthy prayers but their behavior is far from being human. They are condemned by their own actions.

The rich people also go about doing a lot of contribution to the temple and the temple upkeep. Like the religious practices, temple maintenance is also important. People need to contribute for the same. But the attitude with which one does has to be seen. Contributing the surplus money has no merit. Surplus money does not affect the donor. Contribution should pinch the donor.

பக்தி முயற்சிகள் தேவை. பக்தி முயற்சிகள் பாவங்களின் போர்வையாகிவிடக் கூடாது. பக்தி முயற்சிகள் மனித நேயத்தோடு உடன் பயணிக்க வேண்டும். மிகுதியான செல்வத்திலிருந்து காணிக்கை கொடுப்பது பயனற்றது. காணிக்கை கொடுப்பது நம்மை பாதிக்கவேண்டும்.
