Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 20: 19-31

The disciples locked themselves up for the fear of the other (jews). They were not in peace; they were not open; they were not free; they were not communicating in short they were locked with in themselves. Jesus appeared to them gave them peace and gave them the Holy Spirit and gave them a mission. Peace, Spirit, and mission (from Jesus) freed them and sent them on a mission.

Thomas was not there with the disciples and naturally he did not receive these gifts. These gifts were not given to him directly as in the case of the other disciples. Jesus appeared to him as well and communicated another message: these gifts could be received without meeting Jesus in person but through faith. Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.

மற்றவர்மேல் (யூதர்) உள்ள பயத்தினால் சீடர்கள் அடங்கி முடங்கி கிடக்கிறார்கள். அவர்களிடையே அமைதி இல்லை> சுதந்திரம் இல்லை, தொடர்பு இல்லை. இயேசு அவர்களுக்கு தோன்றி அமைதி> தூயஆவி> பணி போன்ற கொடைகளைக் கொடுக்கிறார். தோமா வழியாக இந்த கொடைகளை விசுவாசத்தின் பயனாகவும் பெறலாம் என்று விளக்குகிறார்.

GOSPEL READING: MARK 16:9-15

The disciples who had lived with the Lord on this earth did not believe when they were told by others about his resurrection. While he was going about his mission they saw numerous miracles and listened to his teachings. All these were supposed to have instilled in them faith in Jesus.

What happened to that faith which they exhibited while he was on this earth? Every one of the disciples had to be strengthened by Jesus personally. He appeared to them individually and strengthened them. Jesus did this because he wanted them to be witnesses to the Gospel.

இயேசுவோடு வாழ்ந்து பயணித்த சீடர்கள் உயிர்ப்பு செய்தியை நம்பவில்லை. உயிர்த்த இயேசுவை கண்ட பின்னரே நம்பினார்கள். இயேசுவும் ஒவ்வொருவருக்காய் தோன்றி உறுதிப்படுத்தினார். எதற்காக? நற்செய்தியின் சாட்சியாகவே.
