Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 2:1-14

Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.

Any proclamation from heaven brings great Joy to all people. Even though the proclamation may speak of a particular person or a family or a group of people but the effect of the proclamation is for all. It is also true that the proclamation will remove fear from the people. People of less faith are the ones who are afraid of things and events.

The sign is quite strange. The sign indicates a child wrapped in swaddling clothes and lay in a manger. This sign is given to the shepherds. Only shepherds will understand such signs (manger etc). Shepherds will only understand and accept such signs. Other will not be able to accept it (that is the reason the Magi go to Herod asking for the babe). God gives signs according the understanding capacity of the person who receives the message.

அஞ்சாதீர்கள்> இதோ> எல்லா மக்களுக்கும் பெரும் மகிழ்ச்சிய+ட்டும் நற்செய்தியை உங்களுக்கு அறிவிக்கிறேன்.

கடவுளிடமிருந்து வருகிற நற்செய்தி எல்லாமே எல்லாருக்கும் மகிழ்ச்சியூட்டக்கூடிய ஒன்று. அது பயத்தை நீக்கக்கூடிய ஒன்று. (நம்பிக்கையை ஊட்டும்). நற்செய்தியின் அடையாளங்கள் புரியக்கூடிய (யாருக்கு அறிவிக்கப்படுகிறதோ) ஒன்றாக இருக்கும். நம்பிக்கையும் புரிதலும் இறைவெளிபாட்டுக்கு இன்றியமையாதவை.

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 1:67-79

Then Zechariah his father, filled with the holy Spirit, prophesied,

A person who is filled with the Holy Spirit always prophesied. Here prophecy is not fore-telling the events that were going to take place rather it is proclaiming the process of salvation. It is blessing God. It is announcing the continuous works of God. It is revealing the presence of god here and now.

Here Zechariah, like a prophet, recognizes the presence of God in the events of his life and he realizes the fulfillment of the promises of God to his ancestors. God’s main activity is to save the people. Zechariah recognizes the working of this salvation in his life. Knowledge of this salvation through the forgiveness of sin is the activity of everyone for everyone.

பிள்ளையின் தந்தை செக்கரியா தூய ஆவியால் ஆட்கொள்ளப்பட்டு உரைத்த இறைவாக்கு

இறைவாக்கு கூறுதல் என்பது நிகழப்போவதை முன்அறிவிப்பது மட்டுமல்ல மாறாக உலக நிகழ்வுகளில் இறைவனைக்காண்பது. இறைவன் காட்டும் மீட்பு பாவமன்னிப்பு வழியாக நிறைவேறுகிறது என்பதை உணர்ந்து வெளிப்படுத்துவதாகும். இது தனது வாழ்விலும் நிகழ்கிறது என்பதை உணர்தல்தான் சிறந்த இறைவாக்கு உரைத்தலாகும்.
