Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 11:11-15

Whoever has ears ought to hear.

Jesus has said many things to the people, to the disciples and even to the Pharisees and the scribes. Many listened to his words and some even heard it gladly. But very few accepted it. It is like in the parable of the seed sworn. Very few hear the word with the heart.

John the Baptist heard the word. The prophets heard the word. Those who are least in the kingdom also heard the word. These are the people who have ears. These people hear the word and accept it and live it. John the Baptist is the expected Elijah because he heard the word and acted accordingly.

கேட்கச் செவியுள்ளோர் கேட்கட்டும்.

இயேசு போதித்தார். பலரும் அவர் பேசியதை கேட்டனர். ஆனால் எல்லாரும் செவிமடுக்கவில்லை. இறைவார்த்தையை கேட்பவர்கள் எலியாவைப்போல்> இறைவாக்கினரைப்போல்> திருமுழுக்கு யோவானைப்போல் இருக்க வேண்டும்.

GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 11:28-30

Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.

Jesus invites people. When he began his ministry he invited people to the kingdom. He called for repentance. He invited people to return to the father. His whole mission was this. His invitation was God centered. He never moved away from this invitation and God centeredness. For him everything was for God and with God.

Here he invites people to himself. This is addressed to the people who are burdened. He promises rest but a rest with a yoke. He teaches them the life without yoke is not possible. But a yoke like that of his is bearable. Yoke of Jesus gives rest to the people; it is easy to carry. But all those who come to Jesus should learn to be meek and humble. It is this that makes find rest and helps them to bear the yoke with ease.

பெருஞ்சுமை சுமந்து சோர்ந்திருப்பவர்களே> எல்லாரும் என்னிடம் வாருங்கள்> நான் உங்களுக்கு இளைப்பாறுதல் தருவேன்.

இயேசுவின் அழைப்பு பெருஞ்சுமை சுமந்து சோர்ந்திருப்பவர்களுக்கு. அவர்கள் எதிர்பார்த்திருப்பதும் ஆறுதலும் இளைப்பாறுதலுமே. அதற்கு தேவையானது கனிவும் மனத்தாழ்மையும் தான். எங்கே கனிவும் மனத்தாழ்மையும் உள்ளதோ அங்கே ஆறுதலும் இளைப்பாறுதலும் உண்டு.
