GOSPEL READING: LUKE 11:5-13
I tell you, if he does not get up to give him the loaves because of their friendship, he will get up to give him whatever he needs because of his persistence.

Friendship is the best of all relationship. One can be what he wants in friendship. Friends understand each other even in the worst of situation. In time of need one will run to his friend first before asking for help from others. Friends can be disturbed at any time for anything.
In this story friend does not want to be disturbed. He does not want to disturb the family. Friend from within the house is less friendly than the friend who stands at the door step. But he assists because of persistence. Persistence goes beyond friendship and relationship.

எனினும் அவர் விடாப்பிடியாய்க் கதவைத் தட்டிக் கொண்டேயிருந்தால் அவர் தம் நண்பர் என்பதற்காக எழுந்து கொடுக்காவிட்டாலும், அவரது தொல்லையின் பொருட்டாவது எழுந்து அவருக்குத் தேவையானதைக் கொடுப்பார் என நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்”.

நண்பர்களுக்கு எப்போதும் எங்கேயும் தொல்லை கொடுக்கலாம். நண்பர்களிடையே தொல்லை என்பது இல்லை. தேவையில் கைகொடுப்பவன்தான் நண்பன். ஆனால், இந்த கதையில் நண்பன் கைகொடுக்கவில்லை. விடாய்பிடியாய் கொடுக்கப்படும் தொல்லை நட்பையும்கூட தாண்டி உதவுகிறது.
