*Second Week of Advent, Tuesday — 11th December 2018 — **Gospel: Matthew 18,12-14*
*Fulfill God’s Will in Seeking and Rejoicing *
The first evangelist spreads out in the entire Gospel the metaphor of shepherd and sheep for the leaders and their people. It begins in the infancy narrative (2,6), extends through the ministry and teaching of Jesus (9,36; 10,6.16; 14,14; 15,24.32; 18,12-14; 25,32) and reaches its climax in the passion narrative (26,31-32). This parable of the one hundred sheep teaches us Father’s special concern for the sinners and those who stray, and exhibits the missionary dimension of Jesus’ apostolate. In fact, Jesus in his life time had put this in practice. His option was very much focused when he said that he came “to seek and save the lost” (Lk 19,10), and “not to call the righteous but sinners” (Mt 9,13). The heart of the heavenly Father and the missionary zeal of his Son, encourages the shepherds, their followers, to fulfill God’s will in giving identity to the weak and the errant, and make them at the centre of our celebration.
முதல் நற்செய்தியாளர் ஆயன் ஆடுகள் என்ற உறவு உருவகத்தை தலைவர்கள் மக்களோடு இணைத்து வரைந்திருப்பதை நற்செய்தியின் பல்வேறு பகுதிகளில் காண்கிறோம். இவ்வுருவகங்கள் இயேசுவின் குழந்தை பிறப்பு நிகழ்வில் தொடங்கி அவருடைய போதனையிலும் பணியிலும் தொடர்ச்சி பெற்று அவருடைய பலியில் நிறைவடைகின்றது. நூறு ஆடுகளின் உருவகம் இறைத்தந்தை ஒதுக்கப்பட்ட பாவிகள் மேல் கொண்ட தனிப்பட்ட அன்பையும் இயேசுவின் மறைத்தூது பணியினையும் வெளிப்படுத்துகின்றது. இயேசு தம் வாழ்நாளில் இழந்தவர்களை தேடிப்பிடித்து மீட்கவும், நேர்மையாளர்களை அல்ல பாவிகளையே அழைக்கவும் தம் பணியினை கூர்மைப்படுத்தினார். இறைத்தந்தையின் இதய உணர்வோடு இயேசுவின் மறைப்பணியின் ஆர்வத்தோடு ஆயர்கள் பலவீனமானவர்களையும் ஓதுக்கப்பட்டவர்களையும் அடையாளப்படுத்தி அவர்களை மையப்படுத்தி கொண்டாடும் போது இறைத்திட்டம் நிறைவாகின்றது.
