*1st Week in Ord. Time, Tuesday – 15th January 2019 — **Gospel: Mark 1,21-28*
*Exhibiting his unique Authority*
The kingdom of God is made verbal and visible through the teachings, healings and exorcisms of Jesus. He not only proclaimed the good news of God’s reign, but acted with the authority of God. When Jesus teaches in the synagogue, the people react with astonishment (1,22). The cause of their amazement is the “authority” with which he taught. Unlike the scribes, who passed on and applied the traditions of interpreting the Torah, Jesus teaches with his own authority which came from God, and reinforces his teaching with powerful deeds. In the first miraculous deed, Jesus establishes a sense of wonder among all those present and leads to a discussion among them concerning his identity (1,27). In manifesting his authority in word and deed, Jesus increased admiration among his followers. In their admiration they associated his deeds of authority with his teaching: “a new teaching – with authority”.
இயேசு தம் போதனைகள், குணப்படுத்துதல், பேய் ஓட்டுதல் வழியே இறையாட்சியை வாய்மொழியாகவும், பிறர் பார்த்து தெரிந்து கொள்ளவும் வெளிப்படுத்துகின்றார். இறையாட்சியை அவர் போதிப்பதோடு மிகுந்த அதிகாரத்தோடும் செயல்பட்டார். அவர் தொழுகைக்கூடத்தில் போதித்த போது மக்கள் ஆச்சரியத்துடன் நடந்து கொண்டனர். அவர்கள் ஆச்சரியப்படுவதற்கான காரணம் அவர் கற்பித்த விதம் என்று அறிகிறோம். பாரம்பரியங்களோடு சட்டங்களுக்கு விளக்கம் அளித்த மறைநூல் அறிஞரைப்போல் அல்லாமல், இயேசு சற்று வித்தியாசமாக கடவுளுடைய வல்லமை தம்மில் செயல்படுவதை போதனைகளோடு உறுதிப்படுத்துகின்றார். முதல் அதிசய செயலில் இயேசு தம்மை கண்டவர்கள் மத்தியில் அவருடைய தனித்துவமும் ஆளுமையும் ஒரு விவாதத்திற்கு வழிவகுக்கும் சூழலில் செயல்படுகின்றார். அதாவது, வார்த்தையிலும் செயலிலும் தம் அதிகாரத்தை வெளிப்படுத்தி தம்மைப் பின்பற்றோர் மத்தியில் பெருமை தேடிக் கொண்டார். இதனால், அவர்கள் எப்போதும் அவருடைய போதனையோடு தொடர்புபடுத்திப் பார்த்தனர்: என்னே! இவர் அதிகாரத்தோடு போதிக்கின்றார் என்பதே.
