*Jesus is Sabbath Fulfillment*
Another controversy on Sabbath takes place in the synagogue of Capernaum. Jesus’ teaching and action relate to the Jewish belief that the Sabbath anticipates the messianic age. Jewish teaching emphasized that the Sabbath was a foretaste of God’s kingdom, an anticipation in the present of the world to come. The coming day of perfect peace, healing, wholeness, and joy was foreshadowed in God’s gift of the Sabbath. In healing the man with withered hand Jesus confidently announced the expectant kingdom that was coming into the world in him. With Jesus, the divine gifts and the kingdom have been disclosed to all people. As “lord even of the Sabbath”, he is bringing to fulfillment the restoration and blessedness that has long been associated with the Sabbath. Through this event, Jesus not only manifests but invites the rabbis and Pharisees as to how they should conduct themselves on the Sabbath, i.e., as if the future time was already at hand.
ஒய்வுநாளைப் பற்றி மீண்டும் ஒரு விவாதம் கப்பர்நகூம் தொழுகைக் கூடத்தில் நடைபெறுகிறது. இயேசுவின் போதனையும் செயல்பாடுகளும் யூத நம்பிக்கையான ஓய்வுநாள் மெசியாவின் காலத்தை எதிர்நோக்கி இருக்கின்றது என்பதோடு தொடர்புடையது. ஓய்வுநாள் என்பது இறையாட்சியின் முன்னனுபவம்; வரவிருக்கின்ற உலகினை இங்கு முன்னதாகவே வெளிப்படுத்துவது என்று யூத படிப்பினை வலியுறுத்துகின்றது. கடவுளின் கொடையான ஓய்வுநாள் வரவிருக்கின்ற முழுமையான அமைதி, குணமளித்தல், மகிழ்ச்சி இவற்றை முன்னறிவிக்கும் நாளைக் குறிக்கின்றன. இயேசுவும் வரப்போகும் இறையரசு தம் வழியாகவே இவ்வுலகில் வந்தடையும் என்பதை கைசூம்பியவரை குணமளிக்கும் இந்நிகழ்வு வழியாக உறுதியோடு அறிவிக்கின்றார். இயேசுவில் கடவுளின் கொடைகளும் இறையாட்சியும் எல்லா மக்களுக்கும் வெளிப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளன. “ஓய்வுநாளுக்கு ஆண்டவரான” அவர் இக்காலத்தில் நீண்ட காலமாக ஓய்வுநாளோடு இணைத்திருக்கும் மீட்பையும் ஆசிர்வாதத்தையும் மக்களோடு பகிர்ந்து கொண்டு நிறைவு செய்கிறார். இந்நிகழ்வு வழியாக இயேசு போதனையாளர்களுக்கும் பரிசேயர்களுக்கும் ஓய்வுநாளை எப்படி அனுசரிப்பது என்று மட்டுமல்ல, அது உணர்த்தும் எதிர்காலத்தினை, முழுமையை இப்பொழுதே நடைமுறைபடுத்திட அழைப்பு விடுக்கின்றார்.
