*Conversion of St. Paul, Friday – 25th January 2019 — **Gospel: Mark 16,15-18*
*Being empowered in Jesus name *
Jesus commissions his disciples with a great mission: ‘to go into the whole world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation’. He strengthens them with the power to forgive sins and cast out demons in His name. He gives them the gift of new tongues to proclaim the good news. To all those who believe in the good news, Jesus empowers them with the grace to perform miracles and healings. Therefore the name of Christ Jesus strengthens his followers in times of great fear, when confronted by the unknown, by danger or by evil. However this commission and empowerment is more subjective and always demands personal response. St. Paul was entrusted with the same mission: to preach and to bear witness to Jesus Christ. He took up this challenging task by letting himself be molded and strengthened by God’s will (1Cor 9,16-17).
இயேசு தம் சீடர்களை ஒரு முக்கிய பணிக்காக அனுப்புகிறார்: ‘உலகெல்லாம் சென்று படைப்பிற்கெல்லாம் நற்செய்தியை அறிவியுங்கள்’ என்று. இவர்களுக்கு மனிதரின் பாவங்களை மன்னிக்கும் சக்தியையும் அசுத்த ஆவியை விரட்டியடிக்கும் வல்லமையையும் தந்து பெலப்படுத்துகிறார். அவர்களுக்கு நற்செய்தியை பல மொழிகளில் அறிவிக்கும் கொடையை அளிக்கிறார். மேலும் நற்செய்தியை நம்பும் அனைவருக்கும் அற்புதங்களையும் அதிசயங்களையும் செயல்படுத்தும் ஆற்றலைத் தந்து ஊக்கப்படுத்துகிறார். ஆதலால், இயேசுவின் பெயரால் அவருடைய சீடர்கள் மிகுந்த அச்சம், பேராபத்து, தீமை இவற்றிலிருந்து பாதுகாக்கப்படுகிறார்கள். இருப்பினும் இந்த பணியேற்பும் திடப்படுத்துதலும் ஒவ்வொரு மனிதரிடமிருந்தும் தனிப்பட்ட பதிலை எதிர்பார்க்கின்றது. புனித பவுலிடமும் அதே பணி ஒப்படைக்கப்படுகிறது: இயேசுவின் நற்செய்தியை போதிக்கவும் அதற்கு சாட்சி பகர்வதற்கான அழைப்பும். இந்த சவாலான பணியை செயல்படுத்த கடவுளின் விருப்பத்தின் படி தன்னை உருவாக்கவும் உறுதிப்படுத்தவும் கையளித்தார்.
