*Jesus invitation to Retreat *
The disciples have the privilege of Jesus’ company and as his extended hands they were sent to do exactly as Jesus has done. Now they return back to Him from their first big mission. Jesus knew that they were weak after this mission, even though they were fully excited to share with him their new-found power, resultant fame and popularity. Their mission was so successful that people are now coming and going, not even allowing the apostles’ time to eat. So Jesus extended an invitation to withdraw for a while to do their retreat: reflection and rest. This is what Jesus himself used to do to launch ahead further. Jesus knew that the work of evangelization can be so consuming that disciples might neglect their need for food and rest (physical), prayer (spiritual) and silence (psychological). Jesus wants those who share in his mission to establish a regular rhythm of apostolic life, balancing time between being with Jesus and being sent out by him. He himself was so available to all those in need but he drew a limit to his availability. For disciples of today, this means regularly interrupting times of intense labour with time for reading Scripture, learning the faith, praying and leisure.
இயேசுவின் சீடர்கள் அவருடைய உடனிருப்பை சிறப்பு சலுகையாக பெற்றிருந்தார்கள். அதே வேளையில், இயேசு பணி செய்ததைப் போன்று அவருடைய கரங்களாக இருந்து பணியை நீட்டிக்க அவர்கள் அனுப்பப்பட்டார்கள். இப்பொழுது அவர்கள் தங்களின் முதல் களப்பணி அனுபவங்களை முடித்துக் கொண்டு அவரிடம் திரும்பினார்கள். இவர்களுடைய புதிய சக்தியையும், புகழையும், மக்களிடமிருந்து பெற்ற நன்மதிப்பையும் இயேசுவுடன் பகிர்ந்து கொள்ள அவர்கள் உற்சாகமாக இருந்த போதிலும், இந்த பணியின் இறுதி நிலையில் அவர்கள் பலவீனமாக இருப்பதை இயேசு அறிந்திருந்தார். மக்கள் எப்போதும் தொந்தரவு செய்து கொண்டே இருந்ததால் சீடர்கள் சாப்பிட வேண்டிய நேரத்தை கூட அனுமதிக்கவில்லை. எனவே, இயேசு சிறிது நேர ஓய்விற்காகவும் சுயமாய் சிந்திக்கவும் அழைப்பு விடுத்தார். இதைத்தான் அடிக்கடி தம் பணியில் முன்னேறுவதற்கு முன் அவர் செய்து வந்தார். மறைபரப்புப்பணி மிகவும் உற்சாகமளிக்கும் என்பதை இயேசு அறிந்திருந்தார், இதனால் சீடர்கள் உணவு மற்றும் ஓய்வு (உடல்), செபித்தல் (ஆன்மீகம்) மற்றும் அமைதி (உளவியல்) ஆகியவற்றின் தேவையை புறக்கணித்தார்கள். சீடத்துவ வாழ்க்கையிலும் பணியிலும் பங்களிப்பவர்களுக்கு ஒரு ஒழுங்குதளத்தை நிறுவ இயேசு விரும்புகிறார். அதாவது, இயேசுவுடன் இருக்கவும் அவரால் அனுப்பப்படுவதற்கும் இடையே சமநிலைப்படுத்தப்பட்ட கால அளவோடு செயல்பட வேண்டும் என்பதே. அவர் எல்லாருக்கும் எல்லாமுமாய் இருந்தாலும் ஒரு வரம்பிற்குள் தன்னை நிலைநாட்டிக் கொண்டார். இன்றைய சீடர்கள் தங்களுடைய பணி செய்யம் நேரத்தில் சமநிலையோடு இறைவார்த்தையை வாசிக்கவும், நம்பிக்கை மேம்படுத்தவும், செபிக்கவும் மற்றும் ஓய்வு எடுக்கவும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறார்கள்.
