*Jesus brings to completion Isaian prophecy *
The healing of the blind man serves as a hinge connecting the first and second half of Mark’s Gospel. Understanding Jesus is the focus of the first half of the gospel, and understanding discipleship is the focus of the second half. This healing brings to culmination all the previous healings and links particularly to the foregoing healing of the deaf man with the speech impediment (7,31-37). These two healing accounts are similar in several ways. In both accounts, Jesus takes the afflicted person away from the crowd, indicating the separation from one’s past that Jesus’ message demands. In both accounts, Jesus uses bodily signs, including spittle and touch, as instruments of healing. With these two miracles, Jesus completes the prophecy of Isaiah describing the works of the coming messiah: “Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped; then the lame shall leap like a deer, and the tongue of the speechless sing for joy” (Is 35,5-6). Jesus brings to fulfilment the prophecies by demonstrating His messianic power.
பார்வையற்ற மனிதன் பார்வை பெறும் நிகழ்வு மாற்கு நற்செய்தியின் முதல் மற்றும் இரண்டாம் பகுதியினை இணைக்கும் கதவினுடைய கீல் போன்று செயல்படுகிறது. நற்செய்தியின் முதல் பாதியில் இயேசுவை புரிந்து கொள்ளவும், இரண்டாவது பாதியில் சீடத்துவம் பற்றி தெரிந்து கொள்ளவும் நற்செய்தியாளர் கவனம் செலுத்தியுள்ளார். இக்குணமளிக்கும் நிகழ்ச்சி இதுவரை குணம்பெற்ற நிகழ்ச்சிகளின் உச்சநிலையாக விளங்குகிறது. குறிப்பாக, காதுகேளாமல் திக்கிப்பேசியவர் குணம்பெற்ற முந்தைய நிகழ்வோடு தொடர்புடையதாக அமைந்துள்ளது. இவ்விரண்டு நிகழ்வுகளிலும் பல்வேறு ஒப்புமைகளை காணலாம். இவ்விரண்டு நிகழ்வுகளிலும் இயேசு நோயுற்றவர்களை கூட்டத்திலிருந்து தனியே பிரித்து குணமளிக்கின்றார். இது இயேசுவின் தனித்துவத்திலே ஒவ்வொருவரும் கடந்த காலத்திலிருந்து முழுமையாக விடுவிக்கப்பட்டதை உணர்த்துவதாகும். மேலும், இவ்விரு நிகழ்வுகளிலும் இயேசு உடல் சார்ந்த அடையாளங்களான உமிழ்நீரையும் தொடுதலையும் குணமளிக்கும் கருவியாக பயன்படுத்துகின்றார். இந்த இரண்டு அற்புதங்களிலும், இயேசு இறைவாக்கினர் எசாயாவின் இறைவாக்கான, ‘பார்வையற்றோரின் கண்கள் பார்க்கும்; காது கேளாதோரின் செவிகள் கேட்கும்; காலூனமுற்றோர் மான்போல் துள்ளிக்குதிப்பர்; வாய்பேசாதோர் மகிழ்ந்து பாடுவர்” என்பதை முழுமையாக்குகின்றார். இவ்வாறு இயேசு தம்முடைய மெசியாவின் அதிகாரத்தை நிரூபிப்பதன் மூலம் தீர்க்கதரிசனங்களை நிறைவேற்றுகிறார்.
