*6th Week in Ord. Time, Saturday – 23rd February 2019 — Gospel: Mark 9,2-13*
*Suffering is a foretaste of His Glory*
Jesus’ intimate relationship with God is manifested personally to Peter, James and John in a dramatic fashion on the mountain. As Moses went up to Mount Sinai to encounter God, and Elijah went to that same mountain to hear God’s whispering yet transforming voice, Jesus ascends a high mountain with his closest disciples for a divine manifestation. He offers them a fleeting glimpse and encouraging insight into the fullness of the divine majesty veiled by his humanity. This transfiguration of Jesus occurs immediately after Jesus began to teach his disciples about the cost of discipleship. As Jesus leads them to the cross, he presents Elijah and Moses to them and offers a foretaste of his glory which he will enter through his death and resurrection. Elijah and Moses anticipated the way of the cross through their difficult lives of hearing and obeying God’s will. These two central figures of the OT prepared the way of Jesus in the long drama of the world’s salvation. The revelation of the glorified Jesus with Moses and Elijah also anticipates the glory that Peter, James and John will experience if they walk the way of his cross.
இறைவனோடு இயேசு கொண்டிருந்த நெருங்கிய உறவு பேதுரு, யாக்கோபு, யோவான் ஆகியோருக்கு உயர்ந்த மலையில் வியத்தகு முறையில் வெளிப்படுத்தப்பட்டது. மோசே இறைவனைச் சந்திப்பதற்காக சீனாய் மலைக்குச் சென்றார்; அதே மலையில் எலியா இறைவனின் உருமாற்றும் குரலை மெல்லிய ஒலியாகக் கேட்டார். இயேசுவும் தம்முடைய நெருங்கிய சீடர்களுடன் இறைவனின் தனிப்பட்ட அனுபவத்திற்காக ஓர் உயர்ந்த மலைக்குச் சென்றார். அங்கே அவர்களுக்கு மின்னல் பார்வையில் இயேசுவின் மனிதத்தில் மறைந்து நிற்கும் தெய்வீக முழுமையைப் பற்றிய நுண்ணறிவு ஊக்கத்துடன் அருளப்படுகிறது. இந்த உருமாற்ற நிகழ்வு இயேசு தம் சீடர்களுக்கு சீடத்துவத்தைப் பற்றி கற்பிக்க ஆரம்பித்த உடனே ஏற்படுகிறது. அங்கே எலியாவையும் மோசேயையும் அவர்களுக்கு காண்பித்து சிலுவையின் வழியில் இறப்பிற்குப்பின் கிடைக்கும் உயிர்ப்பின் மகிமையை அவர்களுக்கு முன்சுவையாக வழங்குகின்றார். எலியாவும் மோசேவும் இறைச்சித்தத்தைக் கேட்டு கீழ்ப்படிந்து வாழ்ந்த கடினமான சிலுவை வாழ்வை இங்கு முன் உரைக்கின்றார்கள். இவ்வாறு இந்த இரண்டு பழைய எற்பாட்டு கதாநாயகர்களும் உலக மீட்பின் நீண்ட வரலாற்றிற்கு இயேசுவை ஆயத்தம் செய்தார்கள். மகிமைப்படுத்தப்பட்ட இயேசுவோடு உறவாடிய மோசே, எலியா ஆகிய மூவரின் வெளிப்பாடு பேதுரு, யாக்கோபு, யோவான் ஆகிய மூவருக்கும் சிலுவையின் வழியில் அவர்கள் நடந்தால் மகிமையை அனுபவிக்கலாம் என்ற எதிர்நோக்கையும் சுட்டிக் காட்டுகின்றது.
