*4th Sunday of Lent – 31st March 2019 — Gospel: Lk 15,1-3.11-32*
*Called to become like the Father*
The core message is: we are children of God, given our freedom by the Father, who freely loves us whether we stay or go, whether we have been unfaithful or resentful or arrogant. We must appreciate all the more the boundless love that is the very essence of the Father. Under the umbrella of Father’s love, we need to deepen our understanding of our own sin and limitation. We must get into ourselves to recognize the particular sin that is currently dominating us, be it the infidelity of the younger son, the stubborn resentment of the older son or the refusal to become like the forgiving father. As we become aware of our sinfulness – though this awareness may be uncomfortable at times – we must strive to make our holistic journey back to the Father. As we come to see ourselves in the younger son, the older son, and perhaps in both, we must realize that we are called to be like the father, whose very nature is love, forgiveness and reconciliation.
மைய செய்தி: நாம் கடவுளின் பிள்ளைகள், இறைத்தந்தை நமக்கு சுதந்திரத்தை வழங்கியுள்ளார். நாம் அவருடன் தங்கினாலோ, தூரம் போனாலோ, அல்லது நாம் துரோகம் செய்தாலோ, ஆணவம் கொண்டாலோ, திமிர்பிடித்திருந்தாலோ அவர் நம்மை முழுமையாக அன்பு செய்கிறார். இறைத்தந்தையின் அடிப்படையான எல்லையற்ற அன்பை நாம் பெருமை பாராட்ட வேண்டும். தந்தையின் அன்புக் கொடையின் கீழ் நம்முடைய பாவத்தையும் வரம்புகளையும் பற்றிய நமது புரிதலை ஆழப்படுத்த வேண்டும். தற்போது நம்மை ஆதிக்கம் செலுத்துகின்ற ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட பாவத்தை நாம் அடையாளம் கொள்ள வேண்டும். அது இளைய மகனின் துரோகமோ, அல்லது முதல் மகனின் பிடிவாதமான வெறுப்போ அல்லது மன்னிக்கும் அப்பாவின் தன்மையை உள்வாங்க மறுப்பதோ இருக்கலாம். நம் பாவத்தைப் பற்றிய நமது விழிப்புணர்வு சில நேரங்களில் சங்கடமானதாக இருக்கலாம்; நம் பாவத்தைப் பற்றி அறிந்திருப்பது நாம் இறைத்தந்தையின் பக்கம் திரும்பும் முயற்சியாக அமைய வேண்டும். நாம் இளைய மகன் மற்றும் முதல் மகனின் நிலையில் நம்மை ஐக்கியப்படுத்திப் பார்க்கும் போது தந்தையின் இயல்புகளான அன்பு, மன்னிப்பு மற்றும் ஒப்புரவை பிரதிபலிக்க நாம் அழைக்கப்படுகிறோம்.
