*Tuesday of the Holy Week – 16th April 2019 — Gospel: Jn 13,21-33.36-38*
*Being his beloved discipleship *
The table scene presents the different responses of the three beloveds of Jesus. The text introduces the “beloved disciple” for the first time and remains anonymous throughout the gospel. Most interpreters assume John to be this disciple. Peter, despite his denial, becomes Jesus’ beloved by gaining supremacy over the apostles and in the Church. Jesus also loved Judas very much that he taught him, broke bread with him, travelled across Israel with him and trusted him to keep the ministry’s money bag. In fact Judas has been part of Jesus’ innermost circle for three years, and right up until the end, no one recognized him as a bad guy. The text also makes it very clear that the disciples were “uncertain of whom he was speaking” and “no one at the table knew” why Jesus said this. Yet, what is referred to him as a devil and a thief, noted earlier in the gospel, are upset comments of the evangelist about his betrayal. However the heart of Jesus loved Judas Iscariot at the maximum. He expressed his unique love for him when Jesus said that he was “troubled” about the betrayer. Jesus was not troubled about himself as in 12,27, but manifests his passionate concern for a beloved friend, like Lazarus (Jn 11,38), this time to Judas (13,21). Not letting his love diminished, Jesus shared with him at first the morsel of bread dipped in the dish, an eastern expression of warm hospitality that has mystical significance of his body and blood.
தாம் தேர்ந்து கொண்டவர்களோடு இயேசு உணவருந்தும் இக்காட்சியில் மூன்று அன்பர்களின் வேறுபட்ட பதில்களைக் காண்கிறோம். இப்பகுதி முதல் முறையாக “அன்புச் சீடரை” அறிமுகப்படுத்துகின்றது. ஆனால் நற்செய்தி முழுவதிலும் அவர் யார் என தெரியவில்லை. பல விளக்கவுரையாளர்கள் யோவானே இச்சீடர் என்று கருதினர். பேதுரு, இயேசுவை மறுதலித்திருந்தாலும், அவரின் அன்புக்குரியவராக இருந்ததால் திருத்தூதர்களுக்கும் திருச்சபைக்கும் தலைவராக உயர்த்தப்பட்டார். யூதாஸையும் இயேசு மிகவும் நேசித்தார். எவ்வாறெனில், அவருக்கும் போதித்தார்; அவருடன் அப்பத்தை பகிர்ந்து கொண்டார்; அவருடன் சேர்ந்து பயணம் செய்தார் மற்றும் பணியின் தேவைக்கான பணப்பையை வைத்திருப்பார் என்று நம்பினார். உண்மையில், யூதாசு மூன்று வருடங்கள் இயேசுவின் நெருங்கிய வட்டாரத்திற்க்குள் வாழ்ந்தார். இதுவரையிலும் அவரை கெட்டவராக யாரும் அடையாளம் காணவில்லை. மேலும் இன்றைய பகுதியில் “யாரைப் பற்றி கூறினார்?” என்று சீடர்களும், இயேசு “ஏன் இப்படி கூறினார்?” என்று பந்தியில் அமர்ந்திருந்தோரும் அறிந்திருக்கவில்லை என்பதையும் தெளிவுபடுத்துகின்றது. இருப்பினும் இதற்கு முன்னதாக நற்செய்தியில் அவரை “ சாத்தான்” என்றும் “திருடன்” என்றும் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளதை அறிவோம். இயேசுவைக் காட்டிக் கொடுத்த வருத்தத்தினால் நற்செய்தியாளர் இக்கருத்துக்களை வலிந்து குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார். ஆனால் இயேசுவின் இதயம் யூதாஸ் இஸ்காரியோத்தையும் அதிகமாக நேசித்தது. அவரைக் காட்டிக் கொடுப்பவன் பற்றி கூறும் போது “உள்ளம் கலங்கியவராய் ” என்று குறிப்பிட்டிருப்பது இயேசுவின் தனிப்பட்ட அன்பை வெளிப்படுத்துகின்றது. யோவா 12>27ல் இயேசு தன்னுடைய பாடுகளை நினைத்துக் கலக்கமுற்றார் என்றாலும்> லாசர் மேல் கொண்ட தனிப்பட்ட அன்பு போன்று அன்புத் தோழனாக யூதாசை கருதியதால், தம்முடைய உணர்ச்சிமிக்க அக்கறையை வெளிப்படுத்துகின்றார். தன்னுடைய அன்பை எந்நிலையிலும் குறைத்துக் கொள்ளாத இயேசு அப்பத் துண்டை தோய்த்ததும் முதன் முதலில் யூதாசோடு தான் பகிர்ந்து கொள்கிறார். இச்செயல் கிழக்கத்திய பாரம்பரிய விருந்தோம்பலின் வெளிப்பாடாகவும் இயேசு உடலும் இரத்தமாகவும் விளங்கும் மறையுண்மையின் அடையாளமாகவும் திகழ்கின்றார் என்பதை காட்டுகிறார் நற்செய்தியாளர்.
