*Passover remembrance*
The passion narrative is placed within the context of Israel’s annual Passover. On the first day of the Unleavened Bread, Jesus makes preparation for the feast of Passover. This pilgrimage feast celebrates Israel’s deliverance from slavery and God’s covenant with his people. At the same time, it anticipates God’s future redemption and the complete salvation of his people. Announcing the prophetic words “My time is near”, Jesus assures that Passover and his death will coincide. The celebration of the fellowship meal at the Passover evokes the sacred bond of friendship and covenant between Jesus and his disciples. Jesus’ death and resurrection will constitute the new covenant and the definitive Passover for all times. As long as the Passover of Jesus is celebrated in remembrance of him, the tragedy of Judas’ betrayal will also be told in remembrance.
இஸ்ரயேலின் வருடாந்திர பாஸ்காவின் பின்னணியில் பாடுகளின் வர்ணனை அமைந்துள்ளது. புளிப்பற்ற அப்ப விழாவின் முதல் நாளில், இயேசு பாஸ்கா விழாவிற்கான தயாரிப்பை மேற்கொள்கின்றார். இந்தப் புனிதப் பயண விழா இஸ்ரயேலை அடிமைத்தனத்திலிருந்து விடுவித்ததையும் கடவுள் தம் மக்களோடு ஏற்படுத்திய உடன்படிக்கையையும் கொண்டாடுகின்றது. அதே சமயத்தில், கடவுளிடமிருந்து வரவிருக்கின்ற மீட்பையும் மற்றும் அவருடைய மக்களின் முழுமையான இரட்சிப்பையும் எதிர்நோக்கியுள்ளது. “என் நேரம் நெருங்கி வந்து விட்டது” என்று இயேசு வெளிப்படுத்திய இறைவாக்கினால் பாஸ்காவும் அவருடைய மரணமும் ஒன்றுபடுவதாக உறுதியளிக்கின்றார். பாஸ்கா நாளில் கொண்டாடப்படும் தோழமை விருந்தானது இயேசுவிற்கும் அவருடைய சீடர்களுக்கும் இடையேயுள்ள புனித உறவான நட்பையும் உடன்படிக்கையையும் வளர்க்கின்றது. இயேசுவின் மரணமும் உயிர்த்தெழுதலும் புதிய உடன்படிக்கையை உருவாக்குகின்றது; அது எல்லாக் காலத்திற்குமான பாஸ்காவாக நிலைத்து நிற்கின்றது. ஒவ்வொரு பாஸ்காவையும் கொண்டாடும் பொழுது இயேசுவை நினைவு கூறுவது போல், அவரைக் காட்டிக் கொடுத்த யூதாவின் துயரச் செயலும் நினைவு கூறப்படும்.
