*Friday within Easter Octave – 26th April 2019 — Gospel: Jn 21,1-14*
*Plus Jesus is extraordinary *
In this appearance narrative, seven disciples have returned to Galilee. Like thousands of other pilgrims, they have come back home after the Passover festival in Jerusalem. They resumed their familiar trade out on the sea they know so well. At Peter’s initiative, they get into the boat to fish, but they fail to make a catch all night. As the morning breaks, Jesus encourages them to give it another shot and to do it differently this time. The futility of the disciples’ efforts during the night, followed by their tremendous success in the morning with Jesus, continues the contrast between darkness and light. The great catch occurs not just because the fish are there, but because the risen Lord is there with his authority and power. Without Jesus, the disciples catch nothing; but with his direction, the catch is overwhelming. When Jesus steps into one’s personal lives, things change and even ordinary aspects of life turns out to be extraordinary.
உயிர்த்த ஆண்டவர் தன்னையே வெளிப்படுத்தும் இந்நிகழ்வில் ஏழு சீடர்கள் கலிலேயாவுக்குச் திரும்பி வந்தார்கள். பாஸ்கா திருவிழாவிற்காக எருசலேம் சென்று திரும்பிய ஆயிரக்கணக்கான திருப்பயணிகள் போலவே, அவர்களும் தங்கள் வீடு நோக்கி திரும்பினார்கள். அவர்களுக்கு நன்கு தெரிந்த கடலில் தங்களுக்குப் பழக்கமான வியாபாரத் தொழிலை மீண்டும் துவங்கினார்கள். பேதுருவின் வழிநடத்துதலில், மீன் பிடிப்பதற்காக அவர்கள் படகில் வருகிறார்கள். ஆனால் இரவு முழுவதும் கண்விழித்தும் எதையும் அவர்கள் பிடிக்கவில்லை. விடியற்காலையில் மீண்டும் வேறுவிதமாக முயற்சி செய்ய இயேசு அவர்களை உற்சாகப்படுத்துகின்றார். இரவில் சீடர்களின் முயற்சி பயனற்றப் போனது, விடியற்காலையில் இயேசுவின் வழிநடத்துதல் மிகப் பெரிய வெற்றியைத் தந்தது. இது இருள் மற்றும் வெளிச்சத்திற்கு இடையேயான வேறுபாட்டைக் காட்டுகிறது. பெரிய மீன்பாடு கிடைத்ததன் காரணம் நிறைய மீன்கள் இருந்ததால் அல்ல; மாறாக அதிகாரத்தையும் வல்லமையும் கொண்ட உயிர்த்த ஆண்டவர் அவர்களுடன் உடனிருந்ததால் தான். இயேசு இல்லாதபோது சீடர்கள் ஒன்றும் பிடிக்கவில்லை. ஆனால் அவருடைய வழிநடத்துதலால் மீன்பாடு மிகுதியாய் கிடைத்தது. ஒருவரது தனிப்பட்ட வாழ்வில் இயேசு உடன்நடக்கும்போது மாற்றங்கள் பல ஏற்படும்; வாழ்க்கையின் சாதாரண நிகழ்வுகள் எல்லாம் மிகவும் சிறப்புடையதாக மாற்றம் பெறும்.
