*2nd week in Easter Time, Wednesday – 1st May 2019 — Gospel: Mt 13,54-58 *
*Admiration and Recognition of Jesus*
Jesus was rejected by his own people, even though they were astonished by his wisdom and power. They couldn’t accept this extraordinary man and Son of God, one of their own, whose family attended their synagogue, to be their teacher and interpreter of Scriptures. Though he spoke truth and wisdom they chose not to listen to him, because they knew his other family members of ordinary status. In fact, many personally witnessed to Jesus’ teaching only admired him from far but could not accept him as one above them all. On the other hand, knowledgeable person like Paul even though never had a personal experience, yet pointed out in his teaching that Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God (1 Cor 1,24). For the believer, the admiration of the teaching and works of the Lord, must lead to recognition of the Person; otherwise admiration ends in stupor and unbelief becomes great hindrance to receive Christ’s favours.
இயேசுவின் ஞானமும் வல்லமையும் அவரைச் சுற்றியிருந்த மக்களை ஆச்சரியப்படுத்தினாலும், அவருடைய சொந்த மக்களே இயேசுவை புறக்கணித்தார்கள். கடவுளுடைய மகனான இந்த அசாதாரணமான மனிதனை அவர்களுள் ஒருவராக கருதியதாலும் அவருடைய குடும்பத்தார் பொது செபக்கூடங்களில் கலந்து கொள்வதாலும் இயேசுவை தங்கள் ஆசிரியராகவும் மறைநூலுக்கு விளக்கமளிப்பவராகவும் ஏற்றுக் கொள்ள முடியவில்லை. அவருடைய குடும்பப் பின்னணியை நன்கு அறிந்திருந்ததால், அவர் உண்மையையும் ஞானத்தையும் வெளிப்படுத்தினாலும், அவர் சொல்வதைக் கேட்க விரும்பவில்லை. உண்மையில் இயேசுவின் போதனைக்கு அநேகர் தனிப்பட்ட முறையில் சாட்சியம் அளித்தார்கள், அவரைப் பாராட்டினார்கள். ஆனால், அவரை தங்களுக்குள் மேலானவராக ஏற்றுக் கொள்ள முடியவில்லை. மற்றொரு புறம், அறிவும் புலமையும் பெற்ற பவுல் தனிப்பட்ட அனுபவம் கிடைத்திராத போதும் அவருடைய போதனையில் கிறிஸ்துவே கடவுளின் வல்லமையும் ஞானமும் என்று போதித்தார். நம்பிக்கை உடையவர் ஆண்டவரின் போதனையையும் செயல்பாட்டையும் கண்டுணர்ந்து அவருடைய ஆளுமையினால் ஈர்க்கப்பட வேண்டும். இல்லையேல், அவருடைய செயலை பெருமை பாராட்டுவது வீண் ஆகும். மேலும், நம்பிக்கையற்ற நிலை இயேசுவின்; தயவைப் பெறுவதற்கு பெரும் தடைகளை உண்டாக்குகிறது .
