*3rd week in Easter Time, Thursday – 9th May 2019 — Gospel: Jn 6,44-51*
*God draws men to conversion *
Jesus explains that no one can come to him unless drawn by the Father. There is a dynamic balance between God “drawing” and people “coming” to Jesus. The word “drawn” denotes the influence from God to incline the mind to believe. This word is used six times in the New Testament. In Acts 16,19 it applies to the compulsory drawing of Paul and Silas to the market place. In John 21, vv.6 & 11, it is used to denote the drawing of a net. In John 18,10 it signifies the drawing of the sword. In John 12,32 it has the same meaning as in here (Jn 6,44) of “drawing all men unto himself”. In the conversion of the heart, God enlightens the mind and draws men towards himself. However, the width of God’s love and influence oppose the freedom of human will and action. When people allow themselves to be “taught by God” and receive God’s revelation in Scripture, they will come to Jesus and believe in him. The reason why many refuse to come to him and believe is that they are unwilling to turn their hearts unto God.
தந்தை ஈர்த்தாலொழிய எவரும் என்னிடம் வர இயலாது என்பதை இயேசு இங்கு விளக்குகிறார். கடவுளின் ஈர்ப்புத்தன்மையும் மக்கள் இயேசுவிடம் வருவதும் மாறுபட்ட சமநிலையோடு அமைந்துள்ளது. “ஈர்த்தல்” என்பது நம்புவதற்கு மனதை ஊக்குவிக்க தூண்டும் கடவுளின் செயலாகும். இவ்வார்த்தை புதிய ஏற்பாட்டில் ஆறு முறை பயன்படுத்தப்படுகிறது. திருத்தூதுப்பணி 16,19ல் பவுலையும் சீலாவையும் சந்தைக்கு வெளியே கட்டாயமாக இழுத்துச் சென்றதைக் குறிக்கிறது. யோவான் 21,6 மற்றும் 11 வசனங்களில் வலைகளை இழுப்பதைக் குறிக்கிறது. யோவான் 18,10ல் கத்தியை எடுப்பதைக் காட்டுகிறது. யோவான் 12,32லும் 6,44லிலும் எல்லா மக்களையும் தன் பால் ஈர்ப்பதைக் குறிக்கிறது. இதய மனமாற்றத்தில், கடவுள் மனதைப் பிரகாசிக்கச் செய்து எல்லா மனிதரையும் தம்மை நோக்கி ஈர்த்துக் கொள்கிறார். இருப்பினும், கடவுளின் அன்பின் அகலமும் ஈடுபாடும் மனித சுதந்திரத்திற்கும் விருப்புக்கும் நடவடிக்கைக்கும் முரணானது. கடவுளின் போதனைக்கு மக்கள் தங்களையே உட்படுத்தும் பொழுதும், அவருடைய மறைநூல் வெளிப்பாட்டை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளும் பொழுதும் அவர்கள் இயேசுவில் நம்பிக்கை கொண்டு அவரிடம் வந்து சேருவர். அநேக மக்கள் கடவுளிடம் அவருடைய இதயங்களைத் திருப்புவதற்கு மனமில்லை; காரணம் அவரிடம் வந்து அவரை ஏற்றுக் கொள்ள மறுப்பதாகும்.
