*Light that enables growth *
This section brings to closure Jesus’ public ministry, i.e., the book of signs (Jn 1-12), and sets the stage for the culmination of his work, i.e., the book of glory (Jn 13-21). During the narrative of the seven signs, the attention of Jesus is directed towards the world, the crowds and the religious authorities of the synagogue and the temple. In the book of glory, the main concern is Jesus’ private teaching manifested in the final discourses, the passion account, and the resurrection appearances. The signs evoke belief in Jesus, the light. His mission is made clear. He has come from the Father, bearing the light of his love, revealed by word and deed. Those who receive him walk in this light. Those who reject him stumble in darkness. Just as natural light reveals what is hidden in the dark, God’s son reveals to us what is hidden from us and within us. And just as natural light enables growth in living things, so exposure to the light of the Gospel brings growth to our bodily spirit.
இப்பகுதியில் இயேசுவின் மறைப்பணி நிறைவு பெறுகிறது; இது அடையாளங்களின் நூல் ( யோவா 1-12 அதி.) எனப்படும். இதனின் தொடர்ச்சி அவரது பணியை நிறைவு செய்யும் மேடையாக அமைகிறது; அது மகிமையின் நூல் (யோவா 13-21 அதி.) எனப்படும். ஏழு அடையாளங்களை விவரிக்கும் போது இயேசுவின் கவனம் உலகம், மக்கள் கூட்டம், தொழுகைக் கூடத் தலைவர்கள் மற்றும் ஆலயத் தலைவர்கள் பக்கம் திரும்பியிருந்தது. மகிமை நூலின் மையமாக இறுதி காலப் போதனைகள், பாடுகளின் வர்ணனை, மற்றும் உயிர்ப்பின் காட்சிகளை இயேசுவின் தனிப்பட்ட போதனையாக வெளிப்படுத்துகின்றது. அடையாளங்கள் ஒளியாம் இயேசுவில் நம்பிக்கையை ஏற்படுத்துகின்றன. அவருடைய பணி தெளிவு பெற்றதாய் உள்ளது. அவர் தந்தையிடமிருந்து வந்ததை தன்னுடைய வார்த்தையாலும் செயலாலும் வெளிப்படுத்தி அவருடைய அன்பின் அடையாளத்தை எண்பிக்கிறார். அவரை ஏற்றுக் கொள்கிறவர்கள் இந்த ஒளியில் நடக்கிறார்கள். அவரை நிராகரிக்கிறவர்கள் இருளில் இடர்படுவார்கள். இருளிலே மறைந்திருப்பதை இயற்கை வெளிச்சம் காட்டிக் கொடுப்பது போல, நம்மிடமிருந்து மறைத்து வைக்கப்பட்டிருப்பதையும் நமக்குள் மறைந்திருப்பதையும் கடவுளின் மகன் வெளிப்படுத்துவார். இயற்கை ஒளி உயிரினங்களை வளர்ச்சிப்படுத்துவது போல, நம் உடலின் வளர்ச்சியை ஒளியாம் நற்செய்தி வெளிக்கொணர்கிறது.
