Through these verses Jesus approaches the final farewell. The phrase ‘a little while’ is repeated seven times in this brief passage and tied down to the verb “see”. This phrase emphatically encourages his own disciples to rise above the limitations of time, and enjoy the habits of eternity. The time reference of “no longer see me” is between the moment of Jesus’s speaking to them and His death (Jn 14,19). Whereas the reference of “will see me” is the interval between the Lord’s death and the day of Pentecost (Jn 20,6-8). The verb “see” has two different connotations: the former refers to the spiritual vision, while the latter refers to the physical vision. The first puzzle brings out the climax and crown of the promise of the Spirit that will ‘guide into all the truth’ things concerning Christ. As a consequence the divine Spirit opens their heart and makes visible their unseen Lord. In this manner, the sorrow occasioned by Christ’s departure turns out into joy at His return.
இயேசு தனது இறுதி நாட்களை இவ்வசனங்களின் மூலம் வெளிப்படுத்துகிறார். இச்சிறு பகுதியில் “சிறிது காலம்” என்ற சொற்றொடர் ஏழுமுறை இடம்பெறுகின்றது. இச்சொற்றொடர் “காண்பது” என்ற வினையோடு இணைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இச்சொற்றொடர் அவரது சொந்த சீடர்களை நேர வரம்புகளிலிருந்து உயர்த்தவும், நிலைவாழ்வின் பழக்கவழக்கங்களை அனுபவிக்கவும் உற்சாகப்படுத்துகின்றது. “இனிமேல் என்னைக் காணமாட்டீர்கள்” என்ற நேரக்குறிப்பு இயேசு பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கும் இத்தருணத்திலிருந்து அவருடைய இறப்புவரை உள்ள இடைப்பட்ட காலத்தைக் குறிப்பதாகும். “என்னைக் காண்பீர்கள்” என்ற மற்றொரு நேரக்குறிப்பு ஆண்டவரின் இறப்பிலிருந்து பெந்தகோஸ்தே நாள் வரை உள்ள இடைப்பட்ட காலத்தைக் குறிப்பதாகும். “காண்பது” என்ற வினைச்சொல் இரண்டு வேறுபட்ட கருத்துக்களை உட்கொண்டுள்ளது: முதலில் ஆன்மீக பார்வையையும், பின்னர் உடல் பார்வையையும் குறிக்கின்றது. இந்த முதல் புதிர் ஆவியாரின் வாக்குறுதியின் உச்சக்கட்டமாகவும் கிரீடமாகவும் திகழும் கிறிஸ்து பற்றிய அனைத்து உண்மைகளையும் வெளிக்கொணர்கின்றது. இதன் விளைவாக, தெய்வீக ஆவி ஒவ்வொருவரின் இதயத்தைத் திறந்து, காணாத ஆண்டவரை வெளிப்படுத்துகின்றது. இவ்வாறாக, கிறிஸ்துவின் பிரிவினால் ஏற்படும் வருத்தம் அவரது வருகையில் மகிழ்ச்சியளிக்கிறது.
