*6th week in Easter Time, Saturday – 01st June 2019 — Gospel: Jn 16, 23b-28*
*To the Father through the Son*
The prayer request is thought of as addressing the Father, but the answer here is thought of as coming from the Son, who is one with the Father. This is the new revelation in prayer made known to the apostles only. For until now petitionary prayer was from man to the Maker, but now there is a known mediator, who was one like us, who built the bridge between divine and human nature. The depth and limitation of His promise are both to be noted: ask anything, in Jesus’ name. This comprehensive promise is emphatically repeated in John 14,13-14; 15,16; 16,23-24. Asking of the Father shows a sense of spiritual wants, and a desire for spiritual blessings, with conviction that they are to be had from God only. Asking in Jesus’ name, is acknowledging our unworthiness to receive any favours from God, and shows full dependence upon Him as Lord of Righteousness. Hence prayer becomes a medium of communication for the disciples, and a source of spiritual power in their ministry.
செப வேண்டுதல் தந்தையிடம் கோருவது போல இருந்தாலும், இங்கே பதில் மகனிடமிருந்து வருவதாக அறிகிறோம்; காரணம் மகன் தந்தையிடம் இணைந்துள்ளார். செபத்தைப் பற்றிய இப்புதிய கண்ணோட்டம் அப்போஸ்தலர்களுக்கு மட்டுமே வெளிப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது. இதுவரை மனிதன் தம்மைப் படைத்தவரிடம் நேரடியாக தன் வேண்டுகோளை வைத்தான், இப்பொழுது அவனுக்கு ஒர் இடைநிலையாளர் இருக்கின்றார். நம்மில் ஒருவரான அவர் தெய்வீகத்திற்கும் மனிதத்திற்கும் இடையே பாலமாக இருக்கின்றார். அவருடைய வாக்குறுதியின் ஆழத்தையும் வரம்புகளையும் கவனித்தல் வேண்டும்: இயேசுவின் பெயரில், எதையும் கேட்கலாம். இவ்வாக்குறுதியானது உறுதியுடன் மீண்டும் வலியுறுத்தப்படுகிறது. தந்தையிடம் கேட்பது என்பது ஆன்மீகத் தேவையையும் ஆவிக்குரிய ஆசீர்வாதங்களையும் உணர்த்துகிறது. இது கடவுளிடமிருந்து வந்திருக்க வேண்டும் என்ற நம்பிக்கையை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறது. இயேசுவின் பெயரால் கேட்பது என்பது, கடவுளிடமிருந்து எந்த ஆதாயத்தையும் பெற தகுதியற்ற தன்மையை ஏற்றுக் கொள்வதாகும். மேலும் நீதியுள்ள ஆண்டவராகிய அவரை முழுமையாக சார்ந்திருப்பதாகும். எனவே வேண்டுதல் என்பது தொடர்பு ஊடகமாக சீடர்களுக்கு விளங்குகின்றது, மற்றும் அவர்களின் ஊழியத்திற்கு ஆன்மீக சக்தியின் ஆதாராமாகவும் திகழ்கின்றது.
