*7th week in Easter Time, Tuesday – 04th June 2019 — Gospel: Jn 17,1-11a*
*The Son glorifies for the whole world*
In this parting prayer, the longest prayer of Jesus in any gospel, every word and phrase carries great significance: the hour, glorify, and eternal life. The scope of his prayer extends from the time before the world existed, when he was in God’s presence, to the complete accomplishment of his earthly ministry. At the wedding feast at Cana, Jesus told his mother, “My hour has not yet come.” Now, in today’s gospel, which comes at the end of the last supper, Jesus notes that at last, “the hour has come” for the climax of his life. At this time, Jesus asks the Father to “glorify” the Son. He has glorified the Father through his healing miracles and wondrous teaching, but the full revelation of God’s nature would occur as Jesus offers his life on the cross. The glorification of the Son is this manifestation of his love to the whole world. His deepest nature is his glory as the eternal Word of God, the glory he had in the Father’s presence before creation and before his mission in our human history. The purpose of Jesus’ mission is to give us “eternal life”. Eternal life is God’s own life, a life that he wants us all to share because he loves us so much.
இயேசுவின் பிரியாவிடை செபம் நற்செய்தியிலே மிகவும் நீண்ட செபமாகும். இதில் ஒவ்வொரு வார்த்தையும் சொற்றொடரும் பெரும் முக்கியத்துவம் வாய்ந்தது: நேரம், மாட்சிப்படுத்துவது, நிலைவாழ்வு. அவருடைய செபத்தின் கால வரையறை – உலகம் தோன்றுவதற்கு முன்னே கடவுளுடைய பிரசன்னத்தில் இருந்த போது தொடங்கி, பூமியில் அவருடைய பணி முழுமையாக நிறைவேறியது வரை விரிவடைகிறது. கானாவூர் திருமண விருந்தில் இயேசு தன்னுடைய தாயிடம், “என்னுடைய நேரம் வரவில்லை” என்று சொன்னார். இப்பொழுது இறுதி உணவின் முடிவில், இயேசு “தன்னுடைய நேரம் வந்து விட்டது” என்று தன்னுடைய வாழ்வின் இறுதி நாளைக் குறிப்பிடுகிறார். இந்த நேரத்தில், இயேசு தந்தையிடம் தன் மகனை மாட்சிப்படுத்த கோருகிறார். இயேசு தன்னுடைய குணமளிக்கும் அற்புதங்களாலும் ஆச்சரியத்துக்குரிய போதனையினாலும் தந்தையை மாட்சிப்படுத்தினார். ஆனால் தன்னையே சிலுவையில் கையளித்ததன் மூலம் கடவுளின் மாட்சியை முழுமையாக வெளிப்படுத்தினார். இவ்வாறு உலகம் முழுவதும் அவருடைய அன்பின் வெளிப்பாடாக தன்னுடைய மகனை மாட்சிப்படுத்துகிறார். அவர் நித்திய இறைவார்த்தையாகவம், படைப்பிற்கு முன்பும் வரலாற்றில் தன்னுடைய பணிக்கு முன்பும் தந்தையை மாட்சிப்படுத்தினார். அவருடைய பணியின் இலட்சியமே நமக்கு நிலைவாழ்வு தருவதாகும். நிலைவாழ்வு என்பது கடவுளுடன் இணைந்த வாழ்வாகும். அவர் நம்மை எவ்வாறு அன்பு செய்தாரெனில் இந்நிலை வாழ்வை நம்முடன் பகிர்ந்து கொள்ள விருப்பம் கொள்கிறார்.
