Jesus sends his disciples out on a mission that is filled with risk. They were not influential, renowned and learned, but simple and ordinary disciples. They go as vulnerable lambs in the midst of wolves, but always with his authority and as his representatives. They are not sent with powerful means to impress people or to buy their requirements. But they must travel light. They must single-mindedly press on to their goal, without a hint of self-importance, while relying on God’s help and protection. They have to go out with no other riches than the Good news of the risen Jesus, i.e., his message of peace to the open-minded. They should not be choosy to whom they go. In all simplicity they must present themselves to anyone willing to listen. They must stay on depending on the good will of people and their hospitality. Even now, Jesus sends us his disciples not to condemn or to curse against the reality, not to threaten divine punishment against bad morals or corruption, but only to announce the peace that everyone is desperately seeking. Even though it takes a great faith to imagine the possibility of building a world peace, yet as his disciples we are not only sent to build peace in the families and in our neighbourhood, but are called to remain as lamps among wolves.
இயேசு தம்முடைய சீடர்களை ஆபத்து நிறைந்த பணிக்கு அனுப்புகின்றார். அவர்கள் செல்வாக்கு மிக்கவர்களோ, புகழ்பெற்றவர்களோ, கற்றறிந்தவர்களோ அல்ல, மாறாக எளியவர்கள், சாதாரண சீடர்கள். அவர்கள் ஓநாய்களுக்கு நடுவே பாதிக்கப்படக்கூடிய ஆட்டுக்குட்டிகளாக செல்கிறார்கள். ஆனால் எப்பொழுதும் இயேசுவினுடைய அதிகாரத்துடன் அவருடைய பிரதிநிதிகளாக செல்கிறார்கள். மக்களைக் கவர்திழுக்க அல்லது அவர்களின் தேவைகளை நிறைவாக்க சக்திவாய்ந்த வழிமுறைகளுடன் அவர்கள் அனுப்பப்படுவதில்லை. ஆனால் தங்கள் பயணத்தில் எளிமையை கடைபிடிக்க அழைக்கப்படுகிறார்கள். கடவுளின் அனுகிரகத்தையும் பாதுகாப்பையும் மட்டுமே நம்பி, தங்களுடைய சுயநலத்தை முன்னிறுத்தாமல் ஒத்த சிந்தனையுடன் தங்கள் இலக்கை அடைய வேண்டும். உயிர்த்த இயேசுவின் நற்செய்தியாம் “அமைதியை” திறந்த மனதுடையவர்களுக்கு அளிக்க அவர்கள் பயணிக்க வேண்டும். அவர்கள் யாரிடம் செல்ல வேண்டும் என்று முன்பே தீர்மானித்துச் செல்லக் கூடாது. அவர்களின் குரலுக்கு செவிமடுப்பவர்களுக்கு எளிமையாக தங்களையே முழுவதுமாக அர்ப்பணிக்க வேண்டும். அங்கு அவர்களின் விருந்தோம்பலையும் நல்ல எண்ணங்களையும் ஏற்று தங்க வேண்டும். இப்பொழுதும் கூட இயேசு தம்முடைய சீடர்களை “அமைதியின் தூதுவர்களாக” அனுப்புகின்றார். அவர்கள் மக்களை கண்டனம் செய்யவோ அல்லது சபிக்கவோ அல்ல, மோசமான நடத்தைக்கோ அல்லது பொய்மைக்கோ தெய்வீக தண்டனையை அச்சுறுத்த அல்ல, மாறாக உலகமே தீவிரமாக தேடும் அமைதியினை அறிவிக்கவே அனுப்பப்படுகிறார்கள். உலக அமைதியை கட்டியெழுப்புவதற்கான சாத்தியத்தை கற்பனை செய்வதற்கு மிகுந்த நம்பிக்கை தேவைப்படுகிறது. இருப்பினும் இயேசுவின் சீடர்களாகிய நாம் குடும்பங்களிலும் நமது சுற்றுப்புறத்திலும் அமைதியை கட்டியெழுப்ப அனுப்பப்படுவதோடு, ஓநாய்களிடையே ஆட்டுக்குட்டிகளாக திகழவும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறோம்.
