Called to be faithful leaders
This section begins with Jesus summoning the twelve together for the mission. These correspond to the twelve tribes of Israel who are scattered and deprived of faithful leadership. Only here in the gospel are these twelve called “apostles”, i.e., those who are sent, rather than “disciples”, i.e., those who follow. These apostles become the foundational leaders of the early Church, forming the bridge between the earthly ministry of Jesus and the mission of the post-resurrection Church. The twelve are ordered in six pairs with Peter designated as first and Judas Iscariot listed as last. Their leadership is framed with instructions that are twofold: the ministry of the word demonstrated by the ministry of deed. In the ministry of the word, they must proclaim the message that Jesus announced: “The kingdom of heaven has come near” (10,7). In the ministry of the deed, they must do the deeds that Jesus performed: “Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons” (10,8). The apostles are called to bear witness to Jesus as authentic leaders of the word and deed.
இயேசு பன்னிரெண்டு பேரை தம் பணிக்கு அனுப்புவதோடு இப்பகுதி தொடங்குகிறது. இது இஸ்ரயேலின் பன்னிரு குலங்களில் சிதறடிக்கப்பட்டு மற்றும் ஒதுக்கப்பட்ட நம்பிக்கைக்குரிய தலைமைத்துவத்தோடு ஒத்திருக்கிறது. நற்செய்தியில் இங்கு மட்டுமே பன்னிருவர்களை “சீடர்கள்” அதாவது “பின்பற்றுபவர்கள்” என்று குறிப்பிடாமல், “அப்போஸ்தலர்கள்” அதாவது “அனுப்பப்பட்டவர்கள்” என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறார்கள். இந்த அப்போஸ்தலர்கள் தொடக்க காலத் திருச்சபையின் அடித்தளத் தலைவர்களாக மாறினர். இப்புவியில் இயேசு பணியாற்றிய காலத்திற்கும் உயிர்ப்பிற்குப் பின் திருச்சபையின் பணிக்காலத்திற்கும் இடையே இணைப்புப் பாலமாக இவர்கள் விளங்குகிறார்கள். இந்த பன்னிருவரும் ஆறு ஜோடிகளாக அமைக்கப்பட்டு முதலில் பேதுருவும் கடைசியில் யூதாசு இஸ்காரியோத்தும் பட்டியலிடப்பட்டுள்ளனர். இச்சீடர்களின் தலைமைத்துவம் இரண்டு அறிவுறுத்தல்களுடன் வடிவமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன: வார்த்தையினால் உருவான பணியை செயலாக்கப் பணியாக செய்துகாட்டுவது. வார்த்தையை அறிவிக்கும் பணியில் இயேசு அறிவித்த “விண்ணரசு நெருங்கி வந்துவிட்டது” என்ற நற்செய்தியை அவர்கள் அறிவிக்க வேண்டும். செயலாக்கப் பணியில் இயேசு செய்து காட்டிய, “நலம் குன்றியவர்களைக் குணமாக்குதல், இறந்தோரை உயிர் பெற்றெழச் செய்தல், தொழுநோயாளரை நலமாக்குதல், பேய்களை ஓட்டுதல்” ஆகியவற்றை அவர்கள் செயல்படுத்துதல் வேண்டும். இவ்வாறு அப்போஸ்தலர்கள் வார்த்தையாலும், செயலாலும் உண்மைத் தலைவர்களாக இயேசுவுக்கு சான்று பகர அழைக்கப்படுகிறார்கள்.
