19th Week in Ord. Time, Saturday – 17th August 2019 — Gospel: Mt 19,13-15
New Kingdom
Jesus preached a kingdom which was so different from the traditional understanding of power and might. The disciples’ desire to dismiss the children from the scope of Jesus’ concern to welcome them is obvious in this context. Jesus approach emphasizes that the kingdom of God belongs to them. During Jesus’ time, the children below the age of twelve had no place in the meeting place of the Jewish elders. Jesus sets a new precedent by associating with them and by asserting the need to be childlike to enter this kingdom. He delighted in the presence of the children and demonstrated that God’s love has ample room for everyone. No doubt the disciples wanted to shield Jesus from the nuisance of noisy children but Jesus believed that they exemplify the central values of the kingdom. The values about this kingdom that Jesus taught were known to his disciples yet they failed to grasp the full significance. The disciples need to be open to the demands of the new kingdom proclaimed by Jesus that have different set of requirements and values.
இயேசு போதித்த இறையாட்சி, அதிகாரம் மற்றும் வலிமை என்ற பாரம்பரிய புரிதலில் இருந்து மிகவும் வித்தியாசமானது. இச்சூழலில் இயேசு குழந்தைகளை அன்போடு வரவேற்பதை விரும்பாத சீடர்கள் அவர்களை ஒதுக்குவது தெளிவாகத் தெரிகிறது. இயேசுவின் அணுகுமுறை இறையாட்சி அவர்களுக்குரியது என்பதை வலியுறுத்துகிறது. இயேசுவின் காலத்தில், பன்னிரண்டு வயதிற்குட்பட்ட குழந்தைகளுக்கு யூத மூப்பர்கள் சந்திக்கின்ற இடங்களுக்கு வர அனுமதி இடமில்;லை. மாறாக இயேசு அவர்களுடன் தொடர்பு கொள்வதன் மூலம் இந்த இறையாட்சிக்குள் நுழைய குழந்தை மனம் கொண்டவர்களாக இருக்க வேண்டியதன் அவசியத்தை வலியுறுத்துகிறார். இவ்வாறு ஒரு புதிய முன்னுதாரணத்தை அமைத்துள்ளார். அவர் குழந்தைகள் முன்னிலையில் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் இருந்தார். மேலும் கடவுளின் அன்பு அனைவருக்கும் போதுமானதாய் உள்ளது என்பதை தம் செயல்களால் எண்பித்தார். குழந்தைகளின் கூக்குரலிலிருந்தும் தொல்லைகளிலிருந்தும் இயேசுவைக் காப்பாற்ற சீடர்கள் விரும்பினர் என்பதில் எவ்வித சந்தேகமுமில்லை. ஆனால் இயேசுவோ இக்குழந்தைகள் இறையாட்சியின் மைய விழுமியங்களை எடுத்துக் காட்டுகிறார்கள் என்று நம்பினார். இந்த இறையாட்சியின் மதிப்பீடுகளைப் பற்றி இயேசு கற்பித்தவற்றை அவருடைய சீடர்கள் அறிந்திருந்தாலும், அதன் முழு முக்கியத்துவத்தை புரிந்து கொள்ளத் தவறிவிட்டனர். பல்வேறு தேவைகள் மற்றும் மதிப்பீடுகளைக் கொண்ட இயேசு அறிவித்த புதிய இறையாட்சியின் கோரிக்கைகளுக்கு சீடர்கள் திறந்த மனம் கொண்டவர்களாக இருக்க வேண்டும்.
