Queenship of Mary, Thursday – 22nd August 2019 — Gospel: Lk 1,26-38
Daring woman
We label Mary as a submissive and obedient servant, a compassionate and all enduring mother, who never complains. But we forget the active, joyful, rebellious, inquisitive, demanding and courageous nature of Mary. In the first instant itself, she comes up with an inquisitive question, “How could it be?” The visitation of Elizabeth was aimed at the confirmation of what the angel had announced. When Jesus remained behind in the temple after the feast, she is the one questioning him, “Why have you done this to us?” In the marriage at Cana she demands her son to do something when the wine was over. In Jesus’ way of the cross, and at the foot of the cross she stood on her ground courageously, and she continued to accompany the disciples after the death of Jesus. Mary’s deep faith is the outcome of her questioning. This perfect balance of human character in her made her the mother of God, and as the Queen of Heaven and Earth.
மரியாளை கீழ்படிதலான மற்றும் அடிபணியும் பணியாளராகவும், கருணையுள்ளம் கொண்ட, குறை ஏதும் கூறா, சகிப்புத்தன்மை கொண்ட தாயாகவும் நாம் முத்திரை குத்தியுள்ளோம். ஆனால் சுறுசுறுப்பான, மகிழ்ச்சியான, எதிர்த்து நிற்கும், அறிந்து கொள்ளும் ஆர்வமிக்க, தைரியத்துடன் துணிந்து நிற்கும் மரியாளை நாம் மறந்து விடுகிறோம். முதல் தருணத்திலேயே, “இது எங்ஙனம் ஆகும்?” என்ற கேள்விக் கணையுடன் அவள் இறைத்திருவுளத்தை ஏற்க முன் வருகிறாள். வானதூதர் தமக்கு அறிவித்ததை உறுதிப்படுத்தும் நோக்குடன் அவள் எலிசபெத்தை சென்று சந்திக்கிறாள். திருவிழாவிற்குப்பின் இயேசு ஆலயத்திலே தங்கியிருந்த போது, “மகனே, ஏன் இப்படிச் செய்தாய்?” என்று அவரிடம் கேள்வி எழுப்புகின்றாள். கானாவூர் திருமணத்தில் திராட்சை இரசம் தீர்ந்த போது ஏதாவது செய்திட தம் மகனிடம் வற்புறுத்திக் கேட்கின்றாள். இயேசுவின் சிலுவைப் பாதையிலும், சிலுவையின் அடியிலும் துணிச்சலுடன் நின்றாள். இயேசுவின் மரணத்திற்குப்பின் சீடர்களுடன் பயணித்தாள். இவ்வாறு மரியாள் கொண்டிருந்த ஆழ்ந்த நம்பிக்கை அவளைக் கேள்வி எழுப்பத் தூண்டியது. இந்த குணநலன்கள் அவளை கடவுளின் தாயாகவும், விண்ணுக்கும் மண்ணுக்கும் அரசியாகவும் உயர்த்தியது.
