21st Week in Ord. Time, Saturday – 31st August 2019 — Gospel: Mt 25,14-30
Personal Responsibility
The parable teaches that the way to gain the kingdom is to work for it harder. God needs the cooperation of everyone with their personal responsibility. In this parable Jesus expresses the importance of diligence and faithfulness while living in watchfulness. The issue is not when the master will return or whether the slaves will be surprised by his return but whether they are trustworthy in using the master’s resources that is entrusted to them. The servant who buried his talent is clever enough to grasp his master’s thinking, criticize his doing and even gifted in speech to persuade him. However, he lacked courage and enthusiasm to take new initiatives and failed to bring out his potential. God does not tolerate mediocrity but demands personal responsibility. Human beings alone have the capacity to make decisions, to plan things ahead and to exhibit creativity in their work. Therefore God gives many qualities and abilities for the good of others and each one needs to accept responsibilities without fear of criticism or failure, so that he will entrust much more. God the hard task master takes advantage of his servants and demands something from us, not for his sake but for our prosperity.
இறையாட்சியை அடைவதற்கான வழி கடினமாக உழைப்பதே என்று உவமை கற்பிக்கிறது. கடவுளுக்கு நம் அனைவரின் ஒத்துழைப்பும் தனிப்பட்ட பொறுப்பும் தேவையாய் இருக்கிறது. இந்த உவமையில் விழிப்புடன் வாழும் போது விடாமுயற்சி மற்றும் நம்பிக்கையின் முக்கியத்துவத்தை இயேசு வெளிப்படுத்துகிறார். வீட்டுத்தலைவர் எப்போது திரும்பி வருவார் அல்லது தலைவர் திடீரென்று திரும்பி வருவதைக் கண்டு அடிமைகள் ஆச்சரியப்படுவார்களா என்பது இங்கு பிரச்சினையல்ல; மாறாக அவர்களிடம் ஒப்படைக்கப்பட்ட தலைவரின் உடைமைகளைப் பயன்படுத்துவதில் நம்பகமானவர்களா என்பதே. தனது தாலந்தை புதைத்த பணியாளன் மிகவும் புத்திசாலி, காரணம் அவரது தலைவரின் எண்ணங்களை புரிந்துகொள்வதிலும், அவருடைய செயலை விமர்சிப்பதிலும், நயமாக அவரிடம் பேசுவதிலும் திறமை படைத்தவன். இருப்பினும் புதிய முயற்சிகளை எடுக்க அவனுக்கு தைரியமும் உற்சாகமும் இல்லை; மேலும், தனது திறமையை வெளிப்படுத்தத் தவறிவிட்டார். கடவுள் சாதாரணத்தன்மையை பொறுத்துக் கொள்வதில்லை; ஆனால் தனிப்பட்ட பொறுப்பை தட்டிக் கேட்கிறார். முடிவுகளை எடுப்பதற்கும், திட்டங்களைத் தீட்டுவதற்கும், உழைப்பில் படைப்பாற்றலை வெளிப்படுத்துவதுமே மனிதனுக்குரிய உள்ள தனித்துவம். ஆகவே கடவுள் மற்றவர்களின் நலனுக்காக பல பண்புகளையும் திறன்களையும் தருகிறார். ஒவ்வொருவரும் விமர்சனங்கள் அல்லது தோல்விக்கு அஞ்சாமல் பொறுப்புகளை ஏற்க வேண்டும்; இதனால் கடவுள் அவருக்கு இன்னும் பலவற்றை ஒப்படைப்பார். கடினமான பணியாளரான கடவுள் தனது ஊழியர்களைப் பயன்படுத்திக் கொண்டு அவரிகளிடம் அதிகப்படியாக எதிர்நோக்குகிறார், இது அவருக்காக அல்ல, நம்முடைய வளமைக்காகவே.
