22nd Week in Ord. Time, Friday – 06th September 2019 — Gospel: Lk 5,33-39
Being anew in God’s kingdom
Many of the old practices within Judaism do not fit into the new age of salvation that Jesus is bringing for all people. Just as an old garment should never be patched with the material from a new garment, the gospel of God’s kingdom cannot simply be a repair for the old ways of Judaism. Likewise, as new wine should never be stored in old and fragile wineskins, the gospel cannot be contained within the constraints of Judaism. The old wineskin bursts and the new wine is poured out, so the new message of the kingdom must not be lost, but must be contained within fresh and new ways. Through these metaphors, Jesus warns that many in Judaism will likely reject the new way of salvation offered by him. The ways of God’s kingdom is open to all people, it cannot fit in with the old ways, but it requires new ways of thinking and acting that Jesus brings with him.
யூத மதத்தில் உள்ள பழைய நடைமுறைகள் பல எல்லா மக்களையும் உள்ளடக்கிய இயேசுவின் புதிய மீட்பின் காலத்திற்குள் பொருந்தவில்லை. பழைய ஆடை ஒருபோதும் புதிய ஆடையோடு பொருந்துவதில்லை, அதுபோல இறையாட்சியின் நற்செய்தி யூதமதத்தின் பழைய வழிகளை சரிசெய்வதாக இருக்க முடியாது. இதுபோல் புதிய திராட்சை மதுவினை ஒருபோதும் உடையக்கூடிய பழைய திராட்சை மது தோற்பையில் சேமிக்கக்கூடாது. அதாவது யூத மதத்தின் கட்டுப்பாட்டிற்;குள் நற்செய்தியைக் கொணர முடியாது. பழைய மது தோற்பை வெடித்துவிடும், புதிய மது வெளியே ஊற்றப்படும். இதனால் இறையாட்சியின் நற்செய்தியை இழந்து விடக்கூடும், மாறாக புதிய கோணத்தில் இந்நற்செய்தி இருக்க வேண்டும். இந்த உருவகங்கள் மூலம், யூத மதத்தில் பலர் இயேசு அளிக்கும் புதிய மீட்பின் வழியை நிராகரிப்பார்கள் என்று இயேசு எச்சரிக்கின்றார். இறையாட்சியின் வழிகள் எல்லா மக்களையும் உள்ளடக்கியது. அது பழைய வழிகளுடன் பொருந்தாது, மாறாக இயேசு தன்னுடன் கொணர்ந்த புதிய சிந்தனை மற்றும் செயல்பாட்டிற்குள் அடங்கும்.
