Uphold Scriptural Authority
The gospel presents the conflict concerning Sabbath regulations. The Pharisees did not criticize Jesus and his disciples for picking up heads of grain and eating, for it was allowed to take a small portion from farmer’s crop (Ex 23,25). They condemned Jesus because it was done on a Sabbath day. Jesus responds to this situation from a human perspective. He comes to the aid of his disciples, by quoting the example of David and his companions. When fleeing from Saul, they ate bread conserved for use in the Holy Place of the tabernacle (1 Sam 21,1-6). Jesus knowing the original intention behind Sabbath proved that their arguments were erroneous. He wished to uphold human dignity rather than Mosaic Laws. Having empowered himself with Scripture, He upheld it in every argument. Thus, He reasserted his authority as ‘Son of Man’ through Scripture alone.
ஓய்வுநாளின் விதிமுறைகள் தொடர்பான மோதலை நற்செய்தி முன்வைக்கிறது. வயலில் விளைந்து நிற்கும் சிறு தானியங்களை சாப்பிட சட்டத்தில் அனுமதி இருந்ததால், பரிசேயர்கள் இயேசுவையும் அவருடைய சீடர்களையும் தானியங்களைக் கொய்து தின்றதற்காக விமர்ச்சிக்கவில்லை. ஓய்வுநாளில் இச்செயலைச் செய்ததால் இயேசுவை அவர்கள் கண்டனம் செய்தார்கள். இச்சூழ்நிலைக்கு இயேசு மனித கண்ணோட்டத்தில் பதிலளிக்கிறார். தாவீது மற்றும் அவருடைய தோழர்களின் முன்மாதிரியை மேற்கோள்காட்டி அவர் தம்முடைய சீடர்களின் செயலை ஆதரிக்கிறார். அரசன் சவுலிடமிருந்து தப்பி ஓடும்போது, ஆண்டவரின் கூடாரத்தில் பாதுகாக்கப்பட்டிருந்த ரொட்டியை அவர்கள் உண்டார்கள் என்பதை சுட்டிக் காட்டினார். ஓய்வுநாளின் உண்மை நோக்கத்தை அறிந்திருந்த இயேசு பரிசேயர்களின் வாதங்கள் தவறானவை என்று நிரூபிக்கின்றார். மோசேவின் சட்டங்களைவிட மனித கண்ணியத்தை நிலைநாட்ட அவர் விரும்பினார். இறைவார்த்தையின் அதிகாரத்தில் தன்னை இணைத்துக் கொண்டதால், அதனை ஒவ்வொரு வாதத்திலும் மேற்கோள்காட்டி ஆதரித்தார். இவ்வாறு இறைவார்த்தையின் வழியே அவர் “மானிட மகன்” என்ற அதிகாரத்தை மீண்டும் வலியுறுத்தினார்.
