23rd Week in Ord. Time, Monday – 09th September 2019 — Gospel: Lk 6,6-11
Jesus knew their thoughts
Jesus was neither ashamed nor afraid to own the purposes of his grace. He healed the man with withered hand, knowing the thoughts of the Pharisees and Scribes. Initially they expected Jesus to cure this man; however their intention was neither to do good nor to alleviate his suffering. The wicked and malicious thoughts of his enemies were to trap Jesus for violating the Sabbath law. Indeed the narrator ends this episode with this note that “they were filled with fury and discussed with one another what they might do to Jesus”. But Jesus went beyond these human tendencies. He was overwhelmed by the eagerness of this man who wished to be cured completely. In his option to do good everywhere and to everyone, he knew that it is sin if he doesn’t do it instantly (Jas 4,17).
தம்முடைய அருளின் நோக்கங்களை வெளிப்படுத்த இயேசு வெட்கப்படவில்லை அல்லது பயப்படவில்லை. பரிசேயர்கள் மற்றும் மறைநூல் அறிஞர்களின் எண்ணங்களை அறிந்திருந்த இயேசு கை சூம்பியவனை குணப்படுத்தினார். தொடக்கத்தில் இவர்களும் இம்மனிதனை இயேசு குணப்படுத்துவார் என்று எதிர்பார்த்தார்கள். இருப்பினம் அவர்களின் நோக்கம் நன்மை செய்யவோ அல்லது அவருடைய துன்பத்தைத் தணிக்கவோ அல்ல. ஓய்வுநாளின் சட்டத்தை மீறியதற்காக இயேசுவை சிக்க வைக்க வேண்டும் என்பதே எதிரிகளாகிய அவர்களின் தீங்கிழைக்கும் எண்ணம்;. உண்மையில் அவர்களின் இந்த நோக்கத்தை இவ்வர்ணனையின் இறுதியில் “அவர்களோ கோபவெறி கொண்டு இயேசுவை என்ன செய்யலாம் என்று ஒருவரோடு ஒருவர் கலந்து பேசினர்” என்று முடிக்கிறார் நற்செய்தியாளர். ஆனால் இயேசு இம்மனித போக்குகளுக்கு அப்பாற்பட்டவராய் செயல்பட்டார். முற்றிலுமாக குணமடைய விரும்பிய இம்மனிதனின் ஆர்வத்தால் அவர் திகைத்துப்போனார். எல்லாருக்கும் எல்லா இடங்களிலும் நன்மையே செய்ய விரும்பும் இயேசு, அதை உடனடியாக செய்யாவிட்டால் பாவம் என்றும் அறிந்திருந்தார் (யாக் 4,17).
