24th Week in Ord. Time, Tuesday – 17th September 2019 — Gospel: Lk 7,11-17
In Jesus God visited
In today’s reading it is Jesus who makes an approach to a man already dead. There is no question of faith here but Jesus only expresses sympathy for the widow’s difficult situation. At the recognition of the intervention and manifestation of the power of God, the people are filled with awe and break forth into praise. The people further exclaimed that in Jesus, God has visited his people. The verb ‘to visit’ signifies a special intervention of God, at times to judge and to punish people when they are guilty, but most often to save and to bless. In the OT the liberation from the slavery of Egypt was the most important visit of God (Ex 3,16; 4,31). At the time of Judges God visited the people with punishment when they sinned, and raising up a new liberator for them when they repented. In Jesus Christ we have the supreme and final visit of God (Lk 1,68). But Jerusalem did not recognize the time of his visitation (Lk 19,44) and deprived of the salvation he offered.
இன்றைய வாசகத்தில் ஏற்கனவே இறந்த ஒருவரை இயேசு அணுகினார் என்று அறிகிறோம். இங்கு நம்பிக்கை மையப்படுத்தப்படவில்லை; இருப்பினும்; கைம்பெண்ணின் கடினமான சூழ்நிலைக்கு இயேசு தனது அனுதாபத்தை மட்டும் வெளிப்படுத்துகிறார். கடவுளுடைய வல்லமையின் தலையீடு மற்றும் வெளிப்பாட்டின் அங்கீகாரத்தில், மக்கள் ஆச்சரியத்துடன் நிரம்பியிருக்கிறார்கள் மற்றும் புகழ்ச்சியை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறார்கள். இயேசுவில், கடவுள் தம் மக்களைத் தேடிவந்துள்ளார் என்று மக்கள் மேலும் அவரைப் புகழ்ந்தனர். “தேடி வருதல்” என்பது கடவுளின் சிறப்பான தலையீட்டைக் குறிக்கிறது. சில சமயங்களில் மக்கள் குற்றவாளிகளாக இருக்கும்போது அவர்களைத் தீர்ப்பிடுவதற்கும் தண்டிப்பதற்கும் தேடி வருகிறார். ஆனால் அநேக முறை மீட்பதற்கும் ஆசிர்வதிப்பதற்குமே கடவுள் தேடி வருகிறார். பழைய ஏற்பாட்டில் எகிப்தின் அடிமைத்தளையிலிருந்து விடுவித்தது கடவள் தேடி வந்ததின் மிக முக்கியமான வருகையாகும் (விப 3,16; 4,31). நீதிபதிகளின் காலத்தில் மக்கள் பாவம் செய்தபோது அவர்களை தண்டித்தும், அவர்கள் மனந்திரும்பியபோது புதிய விடுதலையாளரை எழுப்பியும் கடவுள் அவர்களைத் தேடிவந்தார். இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவில் நாம் கடவுளின் உன்னதமான இறுதி வருகையை காண்கிறோம் (லூக் 1,68). இருப்பினும் எருசேலம் மக்கள் அக்கடவுள் அவர்களைத் தேடிவந்த காலத்தையும் அறிந்து கொள்ளவில்லை (லூக் 19,44), அவர் அளித்த மீட்பையும் இழந்தார்கள்.
