St. Luke, Evangelist, Friday – 18th October 2019 — Gospel: Lk 10,1-9
Baptized for God’s mission
In his instructions to the seventy disciples, Jesus provided detailed guidelines on how they were to conduct their mission. Luke, the evangelist, was one disciple who experienced what it meant to be commissioned by God. Even though he was not a direct witness of the life and preaching of the Lord, he understood that from baptism everyone is called to a mission and to respond to the Spirit’s promptings. Luke felt that he was called to put the service of God first and to proclaim the peace of Christ always. And so, he joined Paul at Troas and accompanied him in his missionary work to Philippi (Acts 16,6-12). He remained as Paul’s as fellow worker (Philm 24) and companion during his imprisonment in Rome (2 Tim 4,11). Luke often called Lucius (Rom 16,21) was the beloved physician (Col 4,14) and a learned man. Neither Luke nor the seventy disciples were unique in their qualifications. What equipped them for service was their awareness of Jesus’ power, love, and his vision for all humanity.
எழுபது சீடர்களுக்கு இயேசு அளித்த அறிவுறுத்தல்களில், அவர்கள் எவ்வாறு தங்கள் பணியை செயல்படுத்த வேண்டும் என்பதற்கான வழிகாட்டுதல்களையும் அவர் வழங்கினார். கடவுளால் நியமிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள் அனுபவித்ததை சீடரான நற்செய்தியாளர் லூக்காவும் அனுபவித்தார். ஆண்டவரின் வாழ்க்கை மற்றும் போதனையின் நேரடி சாட்சியாக அவர் இல்லாவிட்டாலும், திருமுழுக்கின் வழியாக எல்லோரும் பணிவாழ்வுக்கு அழைக்கப்படுகிறார்கள் என்பதையும், ஆவியின் தூண்டுதல்களுக்கு திருமுழுக்கு பெற்றோர் பதிலளிப்பதையும் அவர் புரிந்து கொண்டார். கடவுளின் சேவையை முதலிடத்தில் வைக்கவும், கிறிஸ்துவின் அமைதியை எப்போதும் அறிவிக்கவும் தான் அழைக்கப்பட்டதாக லூக்கா உணர்ந்திருந்தார். ஆகவே, அவர் பவுலுடன் துரோவாவில் இணைந்து பிலிப்பு நகருக்கு மறைப்பணி ஆற்றச் சென்றார் (திருத்தூதுபணி 16,6-12). உரோமை சிறையில் பவுல் இருந்த போது உடன் தோழராகவும் (2 திமோ 4,11) மற்றும் சக ஊழியாகராகவும் (பிலமன் 24) இருந்தார். லூகியு (உரோ 16,21) என்று அழைக்கப்படும் லூக்கா அன்பான மருத்துவராகவும் (கொலோ 4,14) மற்றும் கற்றறிந்த மனிதராகவும் திகழ்ந்தார். லூக்காவோ அல்லது எழுபது சீடர்களோ அவர்களின் தகுதிகளில் தனித்துவமானவர்கள் அல்ல. இயேசுவின் வல்லமை, அன்பு, மற்றும் எல்லா மானிடரையும் உள்ளடக்கிய கருணை பற்றிய விழிப்புணர்வு தான் அவர்களின் மறைப்பணி வாழ்வுக்கு உதவியது.
