Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 8:1-3

Jesus had many followers. He had thousands of them (he fed five thousand who followed him and there were many more thousands) who followed him. There were also seventy two disciples whom he sent them two by two ahead of him. He also chose twelve apostles that he might send them.

Besides these there were also women who followed him and ministered to him and his apostles from their own resources. These women were the ones who Jesus had healed them and cured them of evil spirits. They showed their gratitude through their service.

இயேசுவுக்குப்பின் சென்றவர்கள் பலர். ஆயிரமாயிரம் பேர் அவரை பின்பற்றினர். அவர்களில் சீடர்கள் இருந்தார்கள் திருத்தூதர்கள் இருந்தார்கள். இவர்களோடு இயேசுவின் புதுமைகளை பெற்ற பெண்கள் பணிவிடை செய்ய பின்தொடர்ந்தனர்.

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 7:36-50

Jesus entered the house of a Pharisee for a dinner. He must have been a good man. This man also allowed the sinful woman to enter his house. The Pharisee had respect for persons. When Jesus questioned him, he answered justly. He was a sensible man. He listened to Jesus. He believed in Jesus and his teaching. However he reacted to people according to their actions and passed judgment on others (If this man were a prophet, he would know who and what sort of woman this is).

Jesus allowed the woman to express her love for him. He used this as a model of a person who was forgiven. Forgiven people love more. To forgive others is the quality of a Teacher or a Prophet (this is how Jesus was considered by this Pharisee). Forgiven people express their love pious activities. And this is expression of faith.

சீமோன் ஒரு நல்ல பரிசேயன். மனிதர்களை மதிப்பவன். சுட்டங்களை ஒழுங்காக அறிந்து தெறிந்தவன். இயேசுவை நம்பினான் இயேசுவின் போதனைகளை விரும்பிக் கேட்டான். ஆனால் பிறர்மேல் தீர்ப்பி;ட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்தான். அந்தப பெண் தன் அன்பை பக்திமுயற்சிகளில் வெளிப்படுத்தினாள் (அவர் அழுது கொண்டே நின்றார்: அவருடைய காலடிகளைத் தம் கண்ணீரால் நனைத்து> தம் கூந்தலால் துடைத்து, தொடர்ந்து முத்தமிட்டு அக்காலடிகளில் நறுமணத் தைலம் ப+சினார்). இயேசு இதை விசுவாச (நம்பிக்கையின்) வெளிப்பாடாக ஏற்றுக்கொள்கிறார்.
