Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 9:43-45

People were amazed at the teaching and the deeds of Jesus. They recognized in the activities of Jesus the majesty of God. God was present in Jesus and God was revealed by Jesus and the people also recognized God in Jesus.

Jesus taught the disciples about the messiah who should suffer and die. This was not acceptable to the people. According to their understanding, the God-man should not suffer. This was a strange teaching. Suffering and God would not go together in their understanding.

‘துன்பப்படும் மெசியா’ மக்களால் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ள முடியாத ஒரு தகவல். இறைமகனும் துன்பமும் மக்களுக்கு முறன்பாடானவைகள் ஆனால் இறைவனின் திருவுளம் அதுவே.

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 9:18-22

Jesus asked the disciples about the opinion of the people regarding himself. They answered rightly. When he asked the disciples about their own opinion, Peter replied and said the truth. But Jesus rebuked them and said not to say this openly. We wonder why Jesus did not want the truth to be spoken openly. Is there a fixed time to speak the truth and should we wait till then? It seems so here. All truth cannot be spoken to all people at all times. There is a time for everything.

Jesus wanted the truth to happen (The Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised). Truth should happen and not spoken. Enacted truth reaches the people faster than verbalized truth.

சீடர்கள் இயேசுவிடம் உண்மையை பேசினார்கள். ஆனால் இயேசு அவர்களை கண்டித்து அந்த உண்மையை யாரிடமும் சொல்ல வேண்டாம் என்று கூறினார். அவர் மெசியா என்ற உண்மையை பேச இன்னும் காலம் வரவில்லை. எல்லா உண்மையையும் எல்லாரிடமும் எப்போதும் பேசக்கூடாது. இந்த உண்மை நிகழ வேண்டும் பேசக்கூடாது. செயல்வழி உண்மையே சிறந்தது.
