GOSPEL READING: LUKE 1:46-56

When God enters into the world and when God begins to act man is only a recipient.
Man’s response to God will be one of wonder, gratitude and submission. In this man recognizes God’s greatness and accepts his own limitations in humility. Man, on his own, cannot do anything. Whenever God enters into history it is like a new creation.

Mary finds herself to be in a similar situation. She knows the situation of the society and her own situation as well. The transformation that is taking place in the society or in the world or in the history or in her own life is not through any human intervention but purely of the action of God. It is a new creation. She accepts in humility and rejoices at God’s action. That is the faith of Mary.

உலக> சமுதாய, தனிநபர் வாழ்கைகளில் ஏற்படும் மாற்றங்கள் கடவுளாள்தான் நிகழ்கின்றன என ஏற்றுக்கொள்பவர்தான் உண்மையில் கடவுள் மேல் நம்பிக்கை கொண்டவர்கள். அது ஒரு புதுப் படைப்பு. இந்த நம்பிக்கையில் வாழ்பவர்கள்தான் தாழ்ச்சியுடன் மகிழ்ச்சியாய் வாழ்பவர்கள். இறைபுகழ் பாடுவார்கள்.

GOSPEL READING: Lk 1:26-38

Mary was a virgin when the angel Gabriel appeared to her but she was betrothed to Joseph of the house of David. She was greatly troubled at the words of the angel. The angel had only greeted her. But Mary was troubled at what this greeting might bring to her in her life. Greetings always bring with it something. It could be something good and helpful or it could also bring some message of trouble etc. It was natural that Mary was troubled at the greetings.

When the message was communicated then Mary wondered about how this could happen. Mary’s reaction was true and just because it was humanly impossible. Mary was the only person, if at all any, who could question this situation. Mary’s question was not just to give the reason for the impossibility but the demand for the reason for the divine intervention and the divine purpose for such an intervention.

When the divine purpose and the divine intention were made clear and understandable Mary could not but accept it. It was for this purpose the people of Israel where waiting for years and the expectations could be fulfilled at anytime and the present time was very apt for it. As a creature of God, Mary gives her fiat to God. As creatures, we have to accept and collaborate with the plan of God and Mary is a perfect model for that.

இறைவன் எல்லாம் வல்லவர் என்று நம்பியிருந்தாள் மரியா. ஆனால் அவளுக்கு கூறப்பட்ட செய்தி அவளை கலங்க வைத்தது. மரியாவுக்கு உறுதிப்படுத்தும் ஆறதல் கொடுக்கும் செய்தி தேவைப்பட்டது. உறுதிப்படுத்தும் செய்தி கிடைத்தவுடன் இறைதிட்டத்திற்கு உடன் படுகிறாள்.
