Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 7:1-5

Judgement incurs judgement so also forgiveness. This we find very much in the teaching of Jesus. Unless we forgive others our heavenly father will not forgive us our sins. Judgement works the same way. Jesus teaches his disciples not to judge others. (the measure with which you measure will be measured out to you).

The person who passes judgement on others sees the mistakes of the others first. He is a fault-finder. A fault-finder sees the faults first in others. Even the fault-finder has mistake in him. (Even a righteous man sins seven times a day). A true follower of Jesus should find the faults in him first and correct himself before he goes into correcting the others.

இயேசுவின் போதனைகளில் எல்லாறையும் சிந்திக்க வைப்பவைகள்;: 1) பிறர் குற்றங்களை மன்னிப்பது போல் நமது குற்றங்கள் மன்னிக்கப்படும். 2) பிறரைத்தீர்ப்பிடுவது போல் நாமும் தீர்பிடப்படுவோம். 3) குற்றங்கள் கண்டுபிடிப்பவனும் குற்றங்கள் உடையவனே. (நேர்மையாளனும் ஒரு நாளையில் ஏழு முறை தவறுகிறான்.

GOSPEL READING (Jn 6:51-58)

Jesus starts his argument saying that he is the bread that has come down from heaven. From where the bread comes is more important. Jews have already argued saying that Moses gave bread in the wilderness. But here it is the father who gives the bread. Jesus is arguing about his origin. He says that he is from the father and he has come down from the father.

Father is in the heaven and he has sent the son from heaven and hence anything to do with the son will in turn take the people to where he has come down from. Whoever eats the son (who has come down from heaven) will have the same effect. They will in turn reach heaven. Jesus argument is regarding his arrival from and his journey to.

Jesus abiding presence is with those who eat his body and drink his blood. (Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me). Indwelling of Jesus helps the believer to be in union with the father. And that is eternal life.

விண்ணிலிருந்து இறங்கி வந்த உணவு இயேசு. இயேசு தந்தையிடமிருந்து வருகிறார் என்பதை மக்களுக்கு வெளிப்படுத்துகிறார். இயேசுவோடு உறவு கொள்பவர்கள் தந்தையோடு உறவுகொள்கிறார்கள். இயேசுவின் உடனிருப்பு (உணவு வழியாக) தந்தையோடு உறவுகொள்ள (ஒன்றுபட) உதவுகிறது. இதுதான் நிலைவாழ்வு.
