GOSPEL READING: LUKE 12:54-59

“Why do you not judge for yourselves what is right?

People are able to forecast the weather and the flow of wind and its consequences. They read the nature very well and their predictions are right. Similarly they should also read the happenings of the social and political and religious events. This could be applied to every field. Medical doctors are able to read the sicknesses etc and give explanations to the health situations but why can’t they read the happenings of the other events.

Jesus’ main concern is their neglect of the political happenings (arrival of Romans, the ruling of Herod etc) their disregard for this young preacher who is proclaiming the kingdom of God. This is an urgent and important message but the people are deaf to it but they are busy with many other unimportant things.

‘நேர்மையானது எதுவென நீங்கள் தீர்மானிக்காமல் இருப்பதேன்?

இயற்கை நிகழ்வுகளை முன்அறிவிக்கும் மக்கள் மற்ற சமூக நிகழ்வுகளையும் சமய நிகழ்வுகளையும் புறக்கணிப்பது ஏன் என்று இயேசு கேட்ப்பது சரியானதே. மக்கள் எல்லா நிகழ்வுகளையும் காணவேண்டும். எல்லாவற்றைப்பற்றியும் தீர்மானிக்கவேண்டும்.

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 12:49-53

Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division.

Jesus is the prince of peace and came into this world to bring peace and peace between God and the people. But today’s sayings seem to be just the opposite of his entire mission. How could we understand this? Or what did Jesus intend to say through these sayings or what did the author want to say through these?

It seems that the author wants to say that the saying of Prophet Micah 7:6 is being fulfilled in the person of Jesus (For the son dishonors his father, the daughter rises up against her mother, The daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law, and a man’s enemies are those of his household). Through this passage the prophet is warning the people of the imminent crisis and urges that the only way forward is complete trust in God.

மண்ணுலகில் அமைதியை ஏற்படுத்த வந்தேன் என்றா நினைக்கிறீர்கள்? இல்லை, பிளவு உண்டாக்கவே வந்தேன் என உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்.

இயேசுவின் இந்த கூற்று சற்று வேறுபட்டதாகத் தோன்றுகிறது. அவரது பணியும் வாழ்வும் அமைதியை கொண்டுவரத்தான் பின் ஏன் இந்த போதனை. மீக்கா இறைவாக்கினர் 7:6 கூறுகிறது: ஏனெனில், மகன் தன் தந்தையை அவமதிக்கின்றான்; மகள் தன் தாய்க்கு எதிராக எழும்புகின்றாள், மருமகள், தன் மாமியாரை எதிர்க்கின்றாள்@ ஒருவரின் பகைவர் அவரது வீட்டில் உள்ளவரே ஆவர். இறைவாக்கினர் இறைவன் மேல் நம்பிக்கை வைக்க அழைக்கிறார்.
