GOSPEL READING: LUKE 12:39-48

Lord, is this parable meant for us or for everyone?

Everyone is like Peter in one way or the other. Everyone wonders whether the teaching is meant for oneself or for the other. And everyone prefers that the teaching is meant for the other. Everyone thinks that he is right and just and there is nothing wrong with him.

Jesus’ parable is meant for everyone especially for those who are in charge of the others (“Who, then, is the faithful and prudent steward whom the master will put in charge of his servants to distribute food allowance at the proper time?). They have to do their work dutifully and should be ready always (accountable for the work given).

‘ஆண்டவரே, நீர் சொல்லும் இந்த உவமை எங்களுக்கா? அல்லது எல்லாருக்குமா?”

ஆண்டவரின் உவமை எல்லாருக்கும்தான் சீடர்களுக்கும் கூட. அவர்கள் கடமை உணர்வோடு பணி செய்யவேண்டும். அவர்களும் ஆயத்தமாய் இருங்க வேண்டும் ஏனெனில் அவர்கள் நினையாத நேரத்தில் மானிடமகன் வருவார்.

GOSPEL READING: 12:35-38

Blessed are those servants whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival

Master’s arrival is not known to the servant. His arrival could be as late as very late into the night. Servant should be ready to open just at the knock on the door. In a sense the servant is at the door with his hand on the door and listening intently for the sound of the knock.

Servant should be always vigilant. He should be in his uniform and with emergency lamp in his hands. Only those servants who are vigilant and ready for action will be rewarded. They will in turn be treated like the masters and the masters themselves will wait on them.

தலைவர் வந்து பார்க்கும் போது விழித்திருக்கும் பணியாளர்கள் பேறு பெற்றவர்கள்.

பணியாளர்கள் விழித்திருக்க வேண்டும். தயார்நிலையில் இருக்கவேண்டும். இவ்வாறு செயல்படும் பணியாளர்களுக்கு தலைவர்கள் பணிவிடை செய்வார்கள்.
