GOSPEL READING: LUKE 15:1-32

He was lost and has been found

Life of a shepherd is centered around safety of the sheep. Keeping them together is his mission. Morning to evening and even at night his life is for the safety of the sheep (keeping them together). This is in the open field. In the house the duty of the house keeper is to keeping the thing together and not to lose anything.

In the family the primary concern of the father is to keep the family united and together. Father has lost his role as a father if he loses his child – son. Rejoicing is the result of the joy of finding the unity of the family. Unity and togetherness are the reason for great rejoicing and celebration.

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 3:13-17

So must the Son of Man be lifted up,

Christianity cannot be understood without the cross. Cross plays the central role in the life and mission of Christianity. St Paul had understood this rightly. We get numerous quotations on the theme of cross in his letters. For, I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified (1 Cor 2:2)

The work on the cross is beautifully summed up in these words: ‘obliterating the bond against us, with its legal claims, which was opposed to us, he also removed it from our midst, nailing it to the cross’ (Col 2:14). And the purpose of Cross and death on the cross was to: For he is our peace, he who made both one and broke down the dividing wall of enmity, through his flesh (Eph 2:14).

மானிடமகனும் உயர்த்தப்பட வேண்டும்

சிலுவையின்றி கிறிஸ்துவம் ஒரு மடமையே. பவுல் இதை தெளிவாக அறிந்திருந்தார் அறிவித்தார். நான் உங்களிடையே இருந்தபோது மெசியாவாகிய இயேசுவைத் தவிர, அதுவும் சிலுவையில் அறையப்பட்ட அவரைத் தவிர, வேறு எதையும் அறியவேண்டும் என்று நினைக்கவில்லை. (1 கொரி 2:2). நானோ நம் ஆண்டவர் இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவின் சிலுவையை அன்றி, வேறு எதைப்பற்றியும் ஒருபோதும் பெருமை பாராட்ட மாட்டேன். அதன் வழியாகவே> என்னைப் பொறுத்தவரையில், உலகம் சிலுவையில் அறையப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. உலகைப் பொறுத்தவரையில் நானும் சிலுவையில் அறையப்பட்டிருக்கிறேன். (கலாத் 6:14)
